"Bruce McFlintock" - A muscled hunk of a man with slicked back hair and well-managed chesthair, McFlintock is a very popular character actor. He appears regularly in serials at various theaters around town, starring as the invariably handsome and rugged hero adventure. Specializes in saving fainting maidens and posing for dime-novel covers. Currently single.

G
Zebediah Grimleach - A slightly greasy-looking fellow with a penchant for speaking in monotone, Magus Grimleach is notorious for many unspeakable things! The trouble is nobody is quite sure what those terrible things *are*. He has excellent capability in many of the magical arts as a sorceror, and is rumoured to be a horrible necromancer/Kulthian/blood-sorceror/Random Horror of the Week/recurring love-interest of Lady Sandiel (which both give Death Stares in response to). He is a very prim and proper instructor of the students at the College of Magic, and demonstrates a keen mind for ancient artifacts as well as matters relating to the diabolical Forbidden Arts of old. Above petty "mortal" politics, he is reclusive in all things save the school, though he can occasionally be convinced to assist adventurers with old lore and bits of rumour from across the magical domains.
(Open to other players-- Absolutely!)

M
Manfred "Mad Manny" Kardigrad - Best known by his nickname, Mad Manny is a wizard - but more importantly, the most eccentric cook working in the caffeteria of the Alexandrian Academy of Sages... perhaps even the most eccentric cook in the entire city. Fascinated by all things planar, he insists that the caffeteria menu include otherworldly dishes when he's in charge of meals. Needless to say, planar food is not exactly a crowd favorite most of the time, but Mad Manny remains undettered in his conviction despite most of the meals he prepares remaining untasted by the students and faculty.
(NPC created by: Xander; NPC open for use by other players: Yes)

N
Nantius - Hero of the Sendor War, the brave wizard who sacrificed himself in a conflaguration of magical fire to defeat a terrible demon. There is a statue of him in Solmnus, marking the spot of his noble sacrifice.

O
The Oxley Family - The worst group of people anywhere. Commonly referred to as "The Worst People in Alexandria". The Oxley clan lives invariably around the Docks and can be found wherever street theater is to be had.

Finneous Oxley - One of the infamous Oxley brood, Finneous is a tall young man who seems to be allergic to shirts, having a tendency to pop out of them at the slightest provocation. He is one of the more meddlesome of his family, and an accomplished lock-picker and layabout. Despite this, when something is getting done by the Oxleys, Finneous is usually right at the head of things, organizing the herd of cats with startling capacity. He can sometimes be found working at the Ox Strength Ale Tavern.

Madge Oxley Though the Oxley Clan is fairly extensive, Madge is one of the few single women under the age of 50 (which, for the Oxleys, tends to be a ripe old age, given their living habits and general disregard for both personal hygiene and literacy where signs like: 'Do not stand on tracks' and 'cook thoroughly' are concerned). She's usually found bossing her many many many brothers, nephews, cousins and uncles around, and tends to be at the center of any number of in-family squabbles.

Bruck Oxley Originally intended to be 'Brock' Oxley, his sainted mother was unfortunately presented a toad at a delicate time with the midwife. When asked what she was naming him, she was heard quite distinctly by everyone present to reply 'Br-YUCK'. It stuck. Among a family of horrific schemers, Bruck may have been dropped on his head more than his regular share as a child. He's slow, trusting. And, because nature has a sense of humor, built like a brick shithouse. Everybody is very careful not to tick him off, but also very eager to involve him in the grunt work of horribleness. He's also one of the only Oxleys to hold down a job long-term outside of the Ox Strength; he works at the docks hauling crates off of trade-ships.

Rupert Oxley Rupert works on the docks, like most of his brothers and cousins. He finds work off and on doing odd-jobs that need doing. He sees a lot of what goes on, and has his fingers squished right into any number of shady doings. When he can't find work on the docks, however, he weasels his way into doing things around the Ox Strength. Mostly things like drinking and doing rude pantomime with a mop. He and Finneous are good pals.

T
Conjurer-Majestrix Mellicent Tidehollow - A specialist in summoning that came to Alexandria to help with the Tournament Paramount. She is a proponent of educating people in defending themselves against evil by exposing them to it in controlled conditions, garnering much controversy. Back in Rune, Tidehollow is involved with the Parliament of Magi. She is an elegant and stately woman of dignified bearing, and happens to be fond of Myrrish brandy. She looks to be in her mid-30s but rumour has it she is much older and uses magic to maintain a visage of just the right blend of youthful grace and experienced sagacity.

Z
Zippo - A kobold rogue that often shows up after a great triumph and attempts to take credit for a lot of it. He has granted himself such titles as 'Saviour of Solmnus' and 'Hero of Alexandria'. This odd fellow has a band of followers, also kobolds, with diverse skills.

Myrana runs the Ox-Strength Ale Tavern, having inherited it from the late Mister Oxley. It is a situation that would suit her wonderfully if not for the last stipulation in his Final Will and Testament that she also continue to employ those surviving relatives of his who worked at the Ox before his death. This has left her as both manager of the tavern and, because the Oxleys are to a man the worst people imaginable, often the main employee. She can be found waiting tables as often as behind the bar. Which, though the toilet and the sink technically work, whatever contractor built it back in the dark age of man neglected to hook up any of the piping to bring water through the spout and into the dinged copper tub, necessitating that water be heated on the old wood-burning stove in the kitchen and brought in were anyone foolish enough to try to take a bath there. ==About Veyshan Month, and How to Use this Page==

Above many others, Veyshan is a land of mystery and exoticism. It is a land if intrigue, of the dangerous and damned blood of genies, of pride and the struggle from the underground for the abolition of slavery.

Welcome to Veyshan Month!

Veyshan Month will run for roughly 4 weeks, from April 17th to May 15th. During this time, we'll be putting Veyshan in the spotlight. PrPs run with Veyshan as a setting will receive an additional bonus for our PrP Runners as well as Participants. Each PrP Runner may run a maximum of twice per week.

Below are many of the ideas shared last week by our community. You're welcome to edit this page and add additional ones, or make requests for things you'd like to see. If you'd like to use one of the below, be sure to "claim" it with a (Claimed by: MyNameHere) at the end of its description. Don't forget the ()'s! PrPs are not required to use the ideas listed. This is meant to be a resource and perhaps even a request sounding-board.

As always, inappropriate content will be removed without warning. PrPs must otherwise conform to Standard or Dramatic PrP rules and guidelines. If you've never run a PrP before, check out our Introduction to Plotrunning. If you'd like some quick information about Veyshan, head over this way.

PrP Ideas
Family Feud
Amazingly enough, there are those in Veyshan who are of the view that an assassin is not the best way to handle family problems. Of course, there are many who believe that their lives would be considerably improved if certain family members were suddenly and efficiently removed. In certain circles outsiders are preferred for assassinations and kidnappings, as well as protection from the same.

Confusing say, Money like Sand
A merchant, noble, etc. invested in some goods from Veyshan. Delivery of these goods was promised X time ago but has been continually delayed. The merchant is now running out of patience faster than the Veyshanti is running out of excuses. The task is to go to Veyshan to secure the goods (or else?). Possible complications include that a group of crooks who are trying to scam any number of merchants. For extra hijinks, the local authorities already have an investigation underway that is ready to be blundered into.

Warren of Worms
Legend has it that a group once bled giant desert worms for the remarkable properties of the wormblood. The composition of this group is nearly as varied as the stories, ranging from religious fanatics to fanatical warriors to a secret society funded by the rulers of empires long past. It is said that the first worm pens began as a simple construction, but as they began to be buried by the sand these people built on top of the original construction to prevent it from being swallowed by the desert. This continued over the centuries, creating an ever more complex structure. Some claim that it came to resemble an inverted pyramid while others predict it is a spiral, in honor of the worms they held captive.

The simplest tales relate that these men and women drank the blood of these worms for its drug-like properties. The two most common effects attributed to it are a prowess in battle granted by added strength and the fearlessness gained from becoming insensate to pain, or oracular powers by way of being granted visions of the future. The more effusive (or possibly accurate) storytellers speak of intrigues, complex processes of preparation that may or may not have involved magic and prayer, and end results that could deliver unto the imbiber nearly any imaginable result up to and including immortality. Some even claim that it was through this very process that the djinn were created.

Naturally no such story would be complete without the promise of the worms still being alive and well, albeit trapped, within this Warren of Worms. Indeed, anyone who should find it is all but promised to also find the secret of wormblood and their fortune as the purveyor of a drug of unmatched potency. Or, if the most incredible tales are true, they might gain the power to establish and rule the next Empire of a Thousand Years.

Tomb of the Earthshaper
Veyshan was not always a desert land dominated by searing heat and raging winds. At one time, all four elements held dominion in this land, and burried beneath the sand are vestiges of these ancient holdings. One such Vestige is the tomb of the earthshaper, the final resting place of a once proud earth elemental. In times before human memory, the elements turned against one another, and the first to fall was the mighty earth- conquered by the relentless erosion of water, fire and wind. The Earthshaper stood in defiance against this fate and the tomb marks his final resting place, or so the tablets recovered from its altar room claim. Legends also claim that the vast sands of the dune sea are what remains of his physical body.

The tomb itself is a vast underground pyramid- even before its tip was buried by the sands, the bulk of it lay beneath the ground. The pyramid is host to ancient mechanical wonders, wrought from eternal stone, as well as living beings of rock and earth that still guard their patron's resting site to this day. Some say that at the core of this largely unexplored structure the living eart of the earthshaper still beats and shakes the land around it as it does so, while others claim the tomb itself is his heart, wrought by his ancient followers into an immortal bastion of stone.

The tip of this giant structure was recently unearthed by an expedition team, however all attempts to penetrate further than the uppermost level to date have met with grizzly ends, from ancient deadly traps or indomitable stone guardians.
When the previous owner, the late Mister Oxley died, he left the Ox to Myrana in his Last Will and Testament. Along his final wishes were that she take control of the business, and keep on those relatives who he had employed at the tavern as employees. Myrana was quite fond of the late Mister Oxley, and so agreed to this. It was, of course, a very silly thing to do. When not being alternately harrassed and mortified by the Oxleys, Myrana spends much of her time experimenting with her own personal recipes and a small brewery. Cooking and brewing provide her with an outlet, and many of her better successes go to friends and the Church of Althea, where she worships when she can get a day off (which isn't terribly often). In addition, her tiny apartment over the Ox is crammed with books and stationary and a very cluttered closet. Rumor has it that the young woman takes particular pleasure in dancing during Alexandria's festivals, but due to the rather suspicious blood-alcohol levels of people around her at the events, this is hard to prove.

Above all, she is very secretive about her past. A little more than a year ago, Alexandria time, she showed up in the city with a mercenary group. She got a job as a barmaid, worked hard, and showed the romantic proclivities (and awareness) of a block of wood (for all that she's had a few dissapointed admirers). Whenever asked, she changes the subject. The stables house her dapple grey warhorse, Erikkindl, and she is paying for the education of a young boy by the name of Tobias, who is mute.
