Heyuri
You see a clean shaven goblin dressed in a dark leather overcoat with a dizzying array of tools, pouches, and other unidentifiable doodads strapped to his belt. His disheveled hair stands on end in places and in others lies in a tangled mess. Sharp, angular features dominate his face, giving him an almost perpetual look of concern. His large eyes dart about at an astounding speed, bouncing from side to side as if he were mid seizure.
Korsten
This is a tall Aesir, garbed in traditional stormgarde gear, complete with blue eyes, braided blonde beard and fur cloak thrown over heavy metal banded mail. He even has the conical cap with nose guard. He is heavily beweaponed generally toting about a fine-looking rune-inscribed greataxe and a heavy mace hanging at his belt. A round wooden shield is strapped across his back.
Chloe
Standing all of 3 feet tall, this an lucht sluil has long raven hair that goes down to her hips. She also has an angular face and large green eyes. She also has an hourglass figure.
She wears a bit of chainmail when she heads out to battle, but otherwise, she normally wears long travelling boots, comfortable pants, a light blue shirt and brightly colored vestments, complete with a medallion that has a coyote's head amid a field of stars.
You show up at the gates of House Orem at the designated time. The man in charge of Orem security is a lean Hobgoblin named Tarnok, dressed like a fighter in plate armor and a sword. He greets you politely, looks you over once and then says, "Thank you all for coming. Are you ready?" He pauses and looks between the two of you. "Do you two know each other?"
He doesn't move aside to let you inside the gates, meaning you're all still standing more or less in the street.
Korsten, clomping about in his cheap armor, notes, "We had some beers earlier. It's fine. Best buddies, practically." He looks over at the Gobber, "What was yer name again, anyway?"
Heyuri nods as he looks towards the large blonde, the little goblin adds "We met just earlier today." With a smile the little goblin adds "I am called Heyuri."
Korsten introduces himself, thumping the handle of his greataxe on the cobbles, annoucning, "I am Korsten, son of Kros, Herald of Kor."
Tarnok nods once, smiles briefly and then shifts to business. "If you'll follow me..." He steps away from the gate, motioning for you to follow. Tarnok leads you not inside the compound but around the corner, down along the alleyway between this house and the neighbooring one, and finally to a small opening in the ground, normally covered by a grate which is currently leaning against the wall. "We're going down there," he gestures. Then he looks at the group. "I have a spare sunrod if anyone needs one," he offers.
Chloe looks quietly up towards Korsten and chuckles as he thumps his greataxe. "I'm.....not. Obviously." She then makes a face. "if I looked up any more, I'd fall over."
Korsten explains, "No need for your alchemy." He mutters a brief prayer to the war god, and his axe begins to shine with a teensy fraction of that glory.
GAME: Korsten casts Light.
Heyuri nods in agreement as he adds "I can see in the dark anyway." Turning to the large blond, the little goblin adds "Thank you anyways. Im sure not everybody here can see in the dark."
"ooooooooo." Chloe says as his axe begins to glow. However, she does look to Heyuri. 'I...can't see in the dark. being able to see in the dark is useful, I imagine."
A metal ladder down into the sewers is new and still shiny in places. It creaks slightly under the weight of so many armored people climbing down, but seems solid. Tarnok pauses at the bottom to make sure everyone made it okay, then hands Chloe the activated sunrod. "Just in case," he assures her. Next he gestures up and emits a short whistle. The grate at the top of the ladder is replaced from above. This cuts off most of the light from the surface, leaving the tunnel outside of Korsten's and Chloe's lights dark and shadowy. "This way please!" Tarnok announces briskly, then begins walking down the tunnel.
Heyuri nods in agreement at the halflings words, the little goblin adds "Its very useful, unless its not dark." The wirey goblin waks along with the others, his face scrunches up as he enters the sewers, asking "What is that smell?"
Korsten follows the hobgoblin, toting his axe and otherwise making clanky noises.
Chloe says, "it's the Sewers. It's not going to get more pleasent, I can assure you." She says as she clanks along with them. She may be small, but she's not stealthy."
Heyuri nods in agreement with the halflings words. For all his discomfort, the little goblin actually seems rather at home in the sewers, making very little noise as he walks along with the others. In a quiet voice, nearly a whisper the little goblin adds "I suppose it would be silly to think this place would be pleasent"
Tarnok doesn't seem concerned about the noise the party is making. In his armor he's probably one of the worst offenders. After about ten minutes, the group reaches a boarded-up branch tunnel. Some of the boards and nails have been pried apart leaving enough space for someone to see inside if they were to take a peek. Tarnok does just that, putting his snout up to the gap and peering through before looking back at the three of you. "I had these boards placed here last night," he announces, tone confused.
<OOC> Tarnok says, "Can you guys please give me perception checks"

Chloe looks down and tilts her head a bit. "whatever you were trying to keep from escaping....did." She says picking up a couple of bits of wood to show to Tarnok. "I'm pretty sure we can figure that whatever was in there, either is hostile......or didn't like the boards." She then chuckles at her own joke.
Heyuri looks towards the boards, the little goblin seems just a little confused as he speaks in his quiet voice "Well, it certainly looks like this could be interesting." Mumbling to himself as he scratches his chin, the little goblin adds "It would be nice to know what was in here."
Korsten shrugs, and asks, "So what was it, anyway? Some kind of beast, I wager?"
Tarnok shakes his head. "This makes no sense. Our sources overheard a pair of thieves asking about the House Orem vault. Where on the compound it was located, that sort of thing. I had guessed they may be planning to break in through the sewers, as the vault is...ah, well never mind why." He hurries on. "My plan was to take you all down the tunnels leading towards other parts of the city looking for some sign of them, or their tunneling equipment." He points at the boards. "This tunnel leads to the other Houses. The Street of Roses. Other houses of wealthy nobles, all."
Korsten hurms, "Hrm." He ponders the boards, "So maybe they already robbed it?"
Heyuri looks towards the boards, the little goblin seems very curious as he adds "I wonder." After a moment of pause, the little goblin begins poking about adding "I wonder which direction they were moving."
Chloe says, "hmm....That would certainly put a crimp in your plans. It's possible the Otyguhs knocked the boards out too." She then looks to Korsten and Heyuri. "Well, we could ask around."
Korsten looks about, "Ask whom? I mean, something or somebody knocked the boards out. But I don't see them ask, or possibly fight."
Heyuri shrugs as he looks over the boards, the little goblin adds "I should really look into how these tunnels work." Scratching his chin, he adds "It seems like with the right knowledge, or a bit of prior studying, I should be able to figure out the direction they went." With a shrug the little gobling adds "Should we just pick a direction then?"
Chloe says, "Well....let's go in where it was boarded up. Maybe we'll run into an otyguh. There, we can ask if they saw anyone go through." She says, just before walking in the direction she indicated.......Oh brother."
Tarnok points at the sealed off tunnel. "If Chloe is right, something came out of this tunnel. I have to go back to House Orem and alert the house guards. I know it's not what you originally agreed to, but would you all be willing to investigate this further?" He hesitates and then adds, "On your own? Standard adventurer rates in case you run into any trouble?"
Korsten shrugs, "Fine. Just have my gold ready." He looks up the tunnel, not, of course, that he can see past the light his axe is shedding.
Heyuri nods in agreement as he adds "That is fine." The little goblin heads off in the direction after the halfling, continuing his rather stealthy movement as he slips into formation with the others.
Chloe says, "That would be fine. Be careful on the way back." She says before drawing her short sword and raising it above her head, putting a light spell upon the blade. "Of course, we don't want to swim in this stuff."
Tarnok nods and then heads off down the tunnels in the direction you came. It takes some time before the sound of his armor fades away. In fact it takes much longer than it seems it should...

Chloe waves her sword. "Someone's up ahead. I can hear their armor clanking." She warns the rest of the group. "Tarnok? Can you be the shield for us?"
Heyuri nods in agreement adding "It seems odd that another would be down here?" The little goblin blends into the shadows while freeing his large firearm as he adds "We shall hope to find somebody friendly, but it would be prudent to prepare for the worst."

Korsten speaks a prayer, asking for, naturally, blood and glory in Kor's name. Then he nods and strides into the darkness, axe-aglow, ready to face down whatever comes.

The preparations are completed just in time, for soon a pair of small, stout figures bursts upon the scene. Dwarves. They're heavily armored, one with an axe and shield and the other a giant sword and a crosswbow. They also have that slightly feral, wild-bearded look that indicates these are Evil dwarves. The two mutter in their gutteral language before the second dwarf raises his crossbow.

Heyuri begins waving his hands about from the shadows, the little goblin begins muttering under his breath in an arcane language as his eyes glaze over. With a burst of speed the wirey little fellow throws a pinch of dust towards the two dwarves, and they both immidiately slump to the ground in blissful slumber. Turning to the others he adds "It doesnt last long, might want to do something about them."
Chloe says, "Not a good idea. They're likely to lie to us anyways....."
Heyuri shrugs as the large blonde heads towards the dwarves, the little goblin asks in a whispy voice "Should we save one for questioning?" Though after noticing the position of the axe he adds "I guess not."
GAME: Korsten rolls 3d12+18: (19)+18: 37
Korsten heads over to the first sleeping dwarf, the one with the crossbow, and hefts his axe, bringing it down with a thud on the helpless, snoozing dwarf's head, "Not very talkative now."
The other dwarf snores loudly.
GAME: Korsten rolls 3d12+18: (19)+18: 37
Korsten steps over to give the other dwarf, the same treatment, grunting like he's splitting a log. Which is he is, except it's a head, and logs don't splash gore everywhere like this dwarf's head did.
Heyuri shrugs as he considers it, the little goblin adds "Well, I guess their belongings might shed some light on things. Or at least be valueable." With that the little goblin heads over to the dead dwarf and begins looking him over. Turning towards the halfing he asks "Would you like to help?"
Chloe says, "Sure, I can help." She says trotting her way over towards the now dead, other dwarf to search through his belongings...."
Korsten uses a bit of dwarf outfit to clean the bits of dwarf off of his axe, whistling merrily as he does so. Then, of course, he says a prayer over the bodies.
Chloe says, "Well, We came down here to ask a few questions. but we ended up axe-ing a few questions. At least we didn't have to 'ass' a few questions. Wouldn't want to raise a stink, would we?" She says with a bright grin. "ah, Dwarves. I knew ye for such a short time, but you snored so well.""
Heyuri nods in agreement as he looks over the bodies one last time. The little goblin slips his firearm onto his back as he adds "Well, I would imagine these guys probably had something to do with the boards being missing."
Soon after Korsten is finished, you hear the sounds of Tarnok announcing his approach. Once he arrives on the scene, he seems taken aback by the sight of two dead dwarves. Looking between the three of you he ventures, "What happened here...?"
Korsten explains, "Found yer board-knockers. Gobber here knocked em out with some kinda mojo."
Chloe grins at raises her hand. "And I gave them the good luck to find them on the first try!"
Heyuri nods in agreement as he looks over the handy work. Turning back to Tarnok he adds "I would imagine these are the fellows that were looking to rob you? Or they had the worst luck in the world, to stumble upon us. Then stupidly try to attack."
Tarnok looks at Heyuri. He looks at the bodies. He looks at Korsten's axe. Understanding seems to dawn on him. "Yes. If they attacked you, you certainly had every right to defend yourselves. And skulking around in the sewers, armed as they were...they somehow don't have the look of law-abiding city folk as it is."
But something that Heyuri says seems to give Tarlok pause. "The thieves we were looking for were human," he remarks. "These are dwarves." He looks down the tunnel, the way he was originally leading you all before spotting the boards. Then he gives you all a calculating look now. "Are you free tomorrow...?"
Korsten ponders, "Maybe the human thieves were wearing some kind of disguise. Elevated boots, that kind of thing."
Heyuri nods in agreement as he looks towards Tarnok, the little goblin adds "Currently, my schedule is wide open." Turning to the others he adds "So far, drinking in the tavern, and exploring the city."
