Meeting Another From the Jade Islands
Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.
For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.
Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.
Cesran is standing at one of the stalls in the local market place and he's talking to someone that sells furniture and other wooden items. "So where do you get your more exotic woods from? Is there a local forester that you call upon?" He asks as he looks over some of the items and gently runs his hand over a well-made chest.
Bondi finally rises from his spot where he sits over near the artificer material stall where he has been quietly eavesdropping. Dusting himself off, he starts towards Cesran with a smile and a wave, "Greetings!" Bondi just looked at you.
Cesran listens as the seller tells him where he gets some of his wood and Cesran nods, "Thank you." He looks up as he hears the salutations, "Hello there." He takes a moment to look over the man. "Is there something you need help with?"
Bondi smiles and gives a polite bob of his head, "It is a pleasure to meet you, my name's Bondi." He waves off the other merchant dismissively and continues, "Actually, it sounds as though there may be something I can help you with, lest you waste your money with this hack of a carpenter, no offense."
Cesran hmms, "Actually I'm trying to find out where they get the wood from. I don't much care for their carpentry skills. You are from the Jade Island correct?" He asks.
Bondi nods to Cesran, his smile staying plastered to his face though a small amount of concern has crept in behind it as he forces out cheerfully, "Yep! How can you tell?"
Cesran nods, "I thought so I am from the Jade Islands myself. My name is Cesran. I'm looking for the right wood to make my staff. I don't know how familiar you are with the Academy of Sages."
Bondi takes a step back and frowns now, nodding slowly, "Pleasure to meet you Cesran, my name is Montgomery and I am not very familiar with that at all." He gestures towards the merchant, "In that case actually, I'm sure this man can certainly help you find exactly what you need. I misheard and thought you were looking to build a /wagon/."
Cesran eyes the other Jade Islander with a little bit of suspicion, "No I wasn't looking to build a wagon. I'm looking to create a staff. According to the traditions of the Academy of Sages on the Jade Island when a wizard had reached a certain circle of magic he is required to construct a staff. I just received a notice as it was time to make mine. Even though I'm part of the Society for Progressive Arcanists here in Alexandria I still have ties to the Academy of Sages in the Jade Islands."
Bondi nods and smiles again, reaching out to pat Cesran on the shoulder, "Wow! That sounds like a big deal, congratulations are in order." He points again at the poor, disinterested merchant, "You should give this man a discount. What circle of magic have you reached? In layman's terms, if you don't mind, I know little of the subject."
Cesran nods, "It is. Oh I'm not buying the wood from him, you have to go out and get the wood yourself and you have to find the right wood. It's a very complex process. I've reached the 5th circle of magic. Are you interested in magic at all or do your talents lay elsewhere?"
