It seems that the demons are winding down, finally the defenders of Alexandros have a corner on isolating the demons and killing them. The Guild put up a poster asking for anyone willing to go demon hunting to sign up and meet not at headquarters, but just outside the southern gate of Alexandria, their contact there as well. Xavier is waiting for the adventurers to arrive in the morning, despite the snow.
"Science will always prevail over demons!" Zippo declares chipperly, hoisting his death ray aloft as he approaches to join the meeting. "Where do I sign up for this demon-zapping experiment?"
Vuk was willing to do any thing that he deemed would make his personae more important, demon hunting? How hard can it be! He's there, tapping a pipe against his chin, but he never seems to smoke it. "Damned good sport I heard!" He'll announce to any one who seems inclined to put up with him. "Demons that is!"
Ssylrath rides up on his large black bear, both armored and dangerous-looking. The Sith-makar grips his lance and looks grim.
A man of just over average height, but around three feet wide is present. He wears greens and browns generally, and carries weapons about his body and a big stick with an axe opposed by a hook on the end - the metal of the axe is dull. There's a hint of chain mail related armour under the clothes, and while he's currently on foot, there's a big horse standing beside him, with the appearance of demeanour of an animal well-trained. His expression is grim and he nods in recognition to a few of those gathered, though not all: Larron prepares internally to do battle with evil interlopers from another plane.
Xavier nods as he sees all the people arrive, more surprised at the numbers. "Good, good," he nods at all of them. "Good to see so many of you eager for such a challenge. Well, we've been having some demons sighted to the south of the city. You may have to do some tracking to to find them, but there is good coin if you can get rid of them before they cause more damage to the towns in the area."
Ssylrath says, "I've faced demons before and relish a chance to destroy them again. They are an affront to the Green, they kill without reason and cannot be eaten in return. Truly they have no purpose."
Corra makes her way to meet up with Xavier after signing up, humming a bit to herself and then dips her head as she arrives and waits for the others to join them. She nods her head, "I think we can handle the tracking." she says softly.
"Not to mention that exploded demon remnants make excellent subjects for scientific testing." Zippo adds, rubbing his hands together in a somewhat unsettling way.
Zaxx put on his winter extras and wears a thick coat with buttons for a change. He is not without his mule who has on a few items of cloth himself. The cursed elf waves as he passes the gates and sees the pileup of travelers and hunters on a day where many are lazy or bustle about their homes. He smiles and hides it halfway behind the locth to warm his neck. In his loud bass voice, "Good morning, fellows. Master Xavier. I hope everyone is well rested for this endeavor?" He nods to Xavier.
Vuk will adjust his moncole a bit. "Tracking those ruffians shall no pose problems to.. Vuk Aleksy! Adventurer Extradionare!"
Xavier offers out a map to whoever is willing to take it. "Good, this maps shows the last confirmed sighting of a group that I want you to take care of. They were last seen about a day ago, and you seem to have some of those that are skilled for such a task. Good luck and good fighting." He gives a nod, hands off the map and heads inside the city.

Frowning, Larron nods to Xavier's words. "I am happy to help, with the tracking and eliminating," he says in those clipped, polished tones he uses. The elocution is at odds with his outdoorsy type appearance, but the incongruity does not detract from his overall demeanour: one of cautious concern. Then his eyes take in the shadow elf and he blinks, quieting once again.

Zaxx waves to the man to ride back into Alexandria and positions himself to look at the map and make sense of it. He nods to Larron and says, "I carry half a dozen certificates from the Guild, all of which praise me and recommend me. Should you wish to take a look, they are in my backpack, Master Outdoorsman."
Ssylrath shifts in the saddle and scratches his bear between the ears. He speaks in his harsh sibilant voice. "Now, Muddy, we hunt. These creaturess musst be destroyed."
"Completely unnecessary," Larron assures Zaxx in quieter tones, "I've just never.. seen anyone like you before." His tone is apologetic at the last, his expression wry. "I am Larron," he adds, with another nod, before climbing up into the rugged looking saddle on his horse. It looks to have been optimised for combat riding.
Vuk also will try to look at the map, he's pretty good at finding his way about. "Well, we shouldn't sit about to long, I do not think Demons will be very courteous about waiting in one spot." He says before waiting for every one else to look ready to leave, so he can call to his wolf.
The map itself leads to an area a couple hours south of the city, not far off the main road outside of any settlement. It's mostly an open area, rolling hills but not many trees for coverage. Alexandria can be seen off in the distance, but more of a haze on the horizon than solid.

The darkly hued baldie nods to Larron and states pointedly, "Stay wary, Master Outdoorsman, for my kind is vile." He rides over and offers his hand, "Zaxx."
<OOC> Elessa says, "Almost everyone spots them and most of everyone is able to follow the tracks in the snow."
The hand is taken and shaken firmly, even as Larron dismounts to begin his survey for these fiends, looking at the ground and the area around them as if expecting critters to fly up out of the earth at any moment.
Zippo points at the tracks, peering at them through a magnifying glass. "Tracks! Science dictates we must follow!"
Vuk is ranging around the party on his wolf, gun held in his arms, the hammer cocked back, some times he'll proceed, other times, he'll flit behind, but he's quiet..or his wolf is, but Vuk seems to be good at disappearing behind the terrain as he goes, but he always seems to be with in ear shot.
Corra nocks and arrow to her bow and nods, "Lets see where they go." she says as she holds her bow in her hands.

Ssylrath keans over to study the ground periodically but contents himself with following the leads provided by others. The bear snuffles at the ground and growls briefly at the nearest other animal before Ssylrath reins him in.

Zaxx is no real tracker, but he can help and watch the scenery while others look for specifics. He finds the time to lower his head to the priestess of the one he venerates openly and wonders, "Any visions, madam, if you had the chance to see into the machine oil chalice?"
Among many of the group the tracks are easily visible in the snow and leads further away from the city, and any real settlement of the area. The size of this group seems pretty decent in size too, several demons in fact, but all of fairly smaller size, even smaller prints in the snow, among others comparable to a halfling or goblin's footprints.
Larron follows the tracks, sometimes on the horse, sometimes, when there is a more difficult read, on the ground, but he keeps with the others all the same. He keeps his peace and takes a moment every so often to peer at the surroundings in case they are being lead into an ambush.
Vuk is already fairly low to the ground, and his wolf is able to help him track, occasionally it'll stop, listening and Vuk seems to do the same. "I do not understand, I thought the demons were plaguing the villages?"
Ssylrath's bear appears to be sniffing along the track after the others. "They are not of nature, who can understand why they do what they do? Perhapsss they got lost."
Corra keeps an eye out herself as they go along, waiting to find them and get it over quickly.

Zippo starts to look tired and cranky along the trek. "... I was led to believe there would be more demon zapping and less trudging in snow."
The tracks start leading off toward a copse of trees that are heavily covered in snow from the recent snow that the area has experienced. By the look of the tracks, it seems that everyone is catching up on the demons and might be able to catch up to them with their current pace in the trees.
Corra nods and looks around at the others, "Be alert." she says as she realizes herself that they appear to be catching up.
Zaxx cannot help a little grin to sneak up and join the smile he has for the others even in this cold weather. There was something about four trackers and their assistants almost stripsearching the land. A comparison comes to mind. The hours tick, dribble or flow on by.
Ssylrath readies his lance and feeds a small scrap of meat to his bear. "Thisss is it, Muddy. This time you can bite things."
Larron mounts up again and appears prepared to remain mounted at least for the first part of the battle. He moves up towards the front of the group, holding the pole arm ready.
Vuk may have lost what ever track he was on, because his wolf seems to have found a small rodent and he has to keep swatting at it's side to make it move the way he wants it, but everyo ne else seemed on track and he'll race to catch up. "Perhaps we should try to follow with a measure of stealth?"
"... Stealth, you say?" Zippo gives Ssylrath a dubious look. "... Well. It /might/ work."

Zaxx gets of his not so high mule and pats it to which the creature replies with a slightly dubious look that might count as shifty-eyed. It is clear Zaxx wants something from Mopey and it will.. Ohhh, an apple! Mule nudges mul who then holds Mopey by the reins and guides him on foot. Unfortunately, there is no way he could pad the horseshoes and his own rattling with the chain armor is of no help. He does not really stealth, infact.

Ssylrath has pulled out to the side of the group, the bear padding along. The sound of the large amounts of metal they are both wearing isn't exactly muted, but it's also not exactly loud.
The sounds of the demons stops as some of them catch wind of the group approaching. There is a roar as the demons turn back toward the party and seem ready for their approach.
Larron is surprisingly quiet as he nudges his horse along towards the goal. His eyes sweep the area, trying to pick out a suitable target to direct his horse toward.
Vuk is hanging back, he has no reason to charge forward on his wolf, but he is going to take a moment to count how many demons there are.

Zippo raises up his death ray. "Science time!" He declares in a quiet whisper.

One of the little demons, no more than fairly small, came carging up on Ssylrath and managed to bite the Sith-Makar's nose. It didn't really hurt, but it does sting.

Zaxx has his small crossbows at the read and shoots to the side of his where the mounted sith is being harrassed by a snoutbiter. Both his missiles connect, but only prick the skin. He rumbles a cuss and shouts more than says, "Taara's outhouse! Those beasts have thick skin!"
Corra watches as the demons come into sight and some of then see the group. She doesn't even hesitate. Even though she is holding her bow in her hands, with an arrow nocked, she raises her voice in song. It is a rousing song of light over coming dark, a song of battle, meant to inspire courage within her allies. She sings strong and loud.

Ssylrath brushes the flying pest away with one gauntleted hand as he couches his lance and charges forward, bear-back. He spears another demon out of the sky with his lance and pulls up, well on the far side of the group, swinging around and ready.

Vuk didn't have any reason to charge forward, his musket will bark out and he'll begin slipping a paper cartridge home as his wolf lets out an aggressive howl.

"Behold the powers of science!" Zippo raises the horrible glowing contraption in his hands and fires a blinding white ray out of it, which surges right into the Sith-makar's assailant. The creature is left partially frozen and decidedly weakened.

Larron's horse dances to one side and brings Larron within weapon's reaching of the critter that dared to bite Ssylrath. He brings the pole arm around with a firm grip, and slices the creature in two, the dull gray metal of the axehead on the guisarme seeming to have full effect on the beast. Then he turns, scanning for the next target.

Vuk was busy lighting up remains, he doesn't know if there was sacred rituals to follow or not, but at least burning the remains meant nothing would try to eat the demons, he hoped. "Alright good friends! Lets burns whats left and get back to town! It's damned cold out it is!" The cheerful Gobber says.
Ssylrath leans down in the saddle to pick up his lance, then cleans and sheaths his sword. He extends his narrow tongue tentatively to tough the blood dripping from the flyer still stuck on the lance and ponders briefly. "Not bad. Not as bad as the othersss at leasst." He shakes the body off onto the ground. "Sstill not food."
Larron takes a moment to look around and verify that there are no imminent threats, and then he looks over towards Ssylrath and squints at the injured nose with a oddly professional gaze. Then he coughs and blinks and looks around, cleaning his weapon and surveying the terrain.

He slides the two crossbows back into their holsters and helps with the burning and further undoing of these otherworldly pests or begins such. Zaxx makes a mental note to craft feasible ammunition. He replies, "I am fine." He is none too focused with his words, because the green one's shouting heralds nothing good, literally so. He draws and readies his weapons. The cursed sil rolls his head and goes to tap the next wave of foul things with his ranged means. Because it looks familiar, like one of the things that broomed his childhood room bubble -just add apron, hood and cleaning tool-, Zaxx wonders in the direction of the roaring one, "Ffdurop'jxath?" Aloud and in his home dialect of sil, course. Then he is quick to reload after both his bolts hit their mark, Roary the loudest one so far.

Zaxx has been to khazadi chili cookoffs. This little fartlet is nothing. He still crinkles his nose to shut it for while he built up resistence to such, his senes are finely tuned by birth. Roary did not reply, so it is likely another then he has seen before or it simply does not care. He does care to end these monsters, takes another one in the direcion of the one he shot last and sees nothing worth shooting at. He lowers both his crossbows and swaps them to his darkly gleaming rapier and the nicely balanced kukri. The mul closes in, stabs at the creature or where it should be with flourish only to miss it in the misleading cloud. He also finds a new nuance, one of sulphur so intense it overwhelms him. Fifty dwarves are of this world still and Zaxx stumbles as he lets go of the red mold cheese sandwiches he had on the way. As an added bonus, he gets hits by something.

Switching weapons again, Larron pulls the guisarme, letting the quarterstaff drop to the ground. Hefting the big weapon in two hands, he executes another broad swing, which misses the head of the horned demon he was aiming at. He resumes his guard posture, recovering slowly from the vile, noxious cloud of toxic gas.

Takiyah takes a few more steps forward, glaring at the demon the spiritual hammer is swinging at. The hammer does a rushing uppercut, colliding under the demon's chin. While the magic that was holding the hammer together dissipates from the end of its mana, the demon's neck is still broken by the impact. "Yes!" cheers the gobber Forge, sending out a more robust pulse of healing energy.

Ssylrath flails at the demon with his sword, and his mighty bear claws and bites. Although the fiend bleeds it just will not fall. It retaliates with a mighty swing of its weapon.

At some point in the violence, Larron has taken a slash on his arm: it's bleeding. His assault on the horned demon is unslowed: with a reverse of his grip, and shifting in his saddle, the pole arm strikes with a certainty at the demon's neck. The demon sinks to the ground, blood flowing, as Larron prepares to meet the smaller demon, and takes a quick look about, noting the position of the remaining enemy.

Vuk will shift his fire as targets present them selves, letting loose another bark of long gun fire as he hastily reloads.
Zaxx walks in a guarded halfcircle and lunges at one of the demons who try to take a bite out of the servant of the Smith. He has the dark blade swish through the air to poke it between the ribs, but the result is minimal at best.

Ssylrath takes a quick breather and then rides over to support the last remains of the combat, swinging his gleaming falchion once more or a palpable hit. The bear seems less than happy about biting into more icky demons and refuses to take the attack, shying away.

Taking a look around, Larron sees the Priestess battling with a couple of the demons and rides over to her assistance, swinging the Guisarme as he arrives and slicing deeply into the creature he attacks. While it is wounded, it does not fall from its injuries, but Larron remains close by to continue to give battle.

Frowning slightly at the ineffectiveness of her hammer, Takiyah starts harrying the little demon, giving Larron an opening to strike from.

Ssylrath swings the sword one last time, cleanly separating the demon's head from its body, He swings his bear around and charges it into the remaining fray, leaving the body collapsing behind him.
The two smaller dretch demons that are left are easy to finish off and just the last of the demons is down. By looking around, there is no further evidence of the demons being around, at least this group that everyone had been tracking. In all the cold, it's a few hours back to Alexandria and the warm fires that it offers inside its walls.
