Prp: Silly Leprechaun
Logfile from tenebraemush.net.
You have been summoned to help out because a band of mischievous Leprechaun have been spotted. Farmer John claims they stole some chickens, while Molly Mc'nair says that they got some of her best milking cows. A few other townfolk have lost things like favorite jewelery and heirlooms while others swear the Leprechaun's are after there gold. The small village is up in arms and need some adventurers to go in to capture these slippery beings. or.. at the very least get them to leave them alone. Vuk is glad for a change of pace from dealing with angry spirits, bone crushing undead, and things that want to skewer his innards on large iron spikes. Word of some thing he hopes will not lead to these actions is just what he wanted! Altar has not disclosed his reasons for being here, but he is here none the less. He waits patiently while each of the townsfolk tells their horror story of leprechauns without laughing, or moving, or even blinking. When they have all finished he only has one question. "Do you know where the Leprechauns live when they are not robbing you?" A little girl nods her head, quietly and she points into the forest. She holds up her dolly and closes her eyes really tightly as if wishing so hard for magic. Her little wish is answered and there is giggling all around as the child smiles, the voices echo around everywhere, in all the shadows. As if each shadow had a voice, and the adults go crazy whilest the kids... well the kids .. they seem pleased. Vuk loses most of his nerve, but does take note of the way the girl seems to be some how involved. "Well my large and well equipped friend of artifice origin! We should investigate the woods with all due haste! Stolen livestock should be easy to locate!" Altar looks around, trying hopelessly to zero in on the sound of one voice after the next. "Are you sure they are not here with us right now? They're so small they could be hiding anywhere." Vuk doesn't look sure when Altar asks that, but he -does- know if the stolen goods were right here, they'd be pretty foolish creatures! "Even if they are, I doubt they'd leave every thing they stole with the villagers, so we should try to find what they stole, right?" GAME: Vuk rolls perception: (14)+17: 31 The girl giggles and rushes off to play, "i am going to get your gold little Leprechaun!" she tries to catch one by rushing the nearest bush which rattles and changes into a shower of butterflies. "Aieeeeee" One adult is rushing around and steps on a well placed rake .. he gets bonked in the head and falls over. You paged Vuk with 'shiny black shoes? they appear then dissapear' Altar gives up trying to spot the leprechauns. "Sure, no point playing their game, we may as well just go take the stuff back and make them come to us." Vuk tracks some thing momentarily, his peculiar red tinted goggles apparently helping him. "Yes..that may be best! Perhaps if we get things back, they'll leave the poor families alone!" he says, before starting to follow what ever he may. Altar motions Vuk toward the forest. "You first, you're closer to the ground and you're about their size. You track them down and I'll be right behind you." <OOC> Vuk says, "can I make my track check ? :)" <OOC> Rayne says, "yes" GAME: Vuk rolls survival+2+2: (15)+8+2+2: 27 Off Vuk goes, him and his wolf, though he's on foot to follow any signs he can find, occasionally lifting his goggles as he does momentarily. As you walk into the forest you catch glimpses of things that amaze.. A unicorn off in the distance flicks its white mane, the further you walk the further the illusion becomes reality, colors shift and its like walking into a lucky charms cartoon. There are five .. including the one Vuk was tracking and presumely some who were still pranking and playing in the village. Altar follows behind Vuk making a mess of whatever tracks may have once been there. Of course, Altar is easy to track so anyone and their dog could follow him. Its a good thing he's not leading. "You're really good at this stuff. I would have had to wait for them to come to me or something." Vuk is pretty dogged when it comes to sticking to the tracks of the Lephercauns..also, Unicorns are peaceful beings, and he has no interest in upsetting one, but he still stop once they find them. "Let me see if I can't locate their prizes or some sign of a proper encampment. I shall return shortly." He says, gesturing his wolf to remain with Altar GAME: Vuk rolls stealth+2: (9)+23+2: 34 GAME: Vuk rolls perception+2: (16)+17+2: 35 <OOC> Vuk says, "Thats to flank about and see if I can't find any thing the villagers said was missing!" Altar waits with the wolf. He's accustomed to waiting to see what happens next. <OOC> Rayne says, "altar stealth please if you are?" <OOC> Altar says, "I am not. I'm just staying right where he left me." <OOC> Altar says, "I'm the destraction/bait" You paged Vuk with 'you see lots of things, but you dont see any livestock. it could be an illusion but there is nothing here that even resembles anything taken. you do get flashes of pots of gold but they float around .. never staying put' From afar, Vuk nods.
In a world where swords and arrows rule the battlefield, it must be rather nice to not have to worry one’s self about leaking. Before you stands a very large man made of metal. While some War Golems might not be so heavily armored, preferring a lighter and stealthier approach, this one clearly loves his metal skin. His skin has been painted black, with grey lines accenting the joints in a style consistent with the faithful of Vardama. Across the chest, a Golden Scale makes the correlation to Vardama inescapable. Both shoulders have smaller Golden Scales on them, as does the shield. A large backpack is attached to the back, presumably with a release mechanism cleverly concealed, and a Khopesh rests at his left hip, a mace hanging from the right. The Khopesh’s scabbard and Mace loop are also attached, though they are unlikely to come off as easily.
Vuk completes his recce and comes out of shadow and brush near Altar again, it took him a few minutes, but there he is, coalescing from shadows and leaves! "I didn't see any thing they took..if they ever took any thing. I will endeavour to speak with them..it might be useful if you came with, in case they get..rather grumpy. Don't try to catch any thing either!" He says and then moves to go and approach the Lepherchauns after making sure Altar does indeed follow! While Vuk is away the girl from the village appears before Altar.. just out of his reach.. she giggles and snaps her fingers and one of your swords begins to float in the air. <OOC> Rayne says, "to slow lol" <OOC> Altar says, "so, is there a floating sword and Vuk is watching, or does that happen while he's away?" <OOC> Rayne says, "when vuk returns the girl is gone and one of Altar's swords is gone as well." <OOC> Rayne says, "or appears gone" <OOC> Altar only has one sword. <OOC> Rayne says, "then its that one :P" Altar turns to look when Vuk shows up, then grabs at the missing sword's spot at his waist. "They stole my sword at least. We should look for that at least." Altar pulls his mace out and keeps it in his hand. "They'll have to pry the mace out of my hand." Vuk figures this; an angry metal man will certainly be the last resort when diplomacy fails..but you know, it may! "We shall attempt to regain such a thing with out need for blood shed!" Then he's off to stride towards the Leperchauns..well, they -look- like Lepherchauns. "Greetings and salutations my friends of mystery and intrigue! Do you have a moment to speak with us? It shouldn't take to long!" Altar follows Vuk, making a great big racket as he blazes a much larger trail through the woods. "Sure, no need for unnecessary violence, but I will be needing my sword back, Vardama does not take too kindly to misplacing her icons and tools." There is a portly small man who steps up to talk.. as he dose all the others dissapear. They are here .. still you can see them in the bushes watching, Waiting to see what prank they can pull. You say, "hello there laddies, what can we do fer ye?"
Vuk doffs his top hat at the Leperchaun and then does a slight bow at the waist. "My good sir! We've come to inquire into a few things that seem to be amiss! The local village is in quite a state of panic and seem to find you solely responsible about the entire thing! We were wondering if you couldn't help soothe things over with them? Perhaps in exchange for their posessions back they could provide you with the occasional barrel of ale if you'd promise to stop causing them such concerns? I'd hate for the elderly to get quite a fright from ..as I suspect, simply playful pranks! You know the elderly, their hearts can't take things so well!" Altar listens quietly while Vuk negotiates, but can't help adding to the end. "And I would like my sword back, it is a symbol of my faith and dear to me." "Things are not always what they seem, look beyond the illusion." He says waving his hand as the scene around them seems to just shine with color. "We would need more then ale to simply stop doing what we love." he offers, and the giggles of his family echo around them <OOC> Smythly says, "Augh! XD" <OOC> Rayne says, "hop in if you want!" Vuk crosses his arms over his chest at their playful view on this. "Sir or Sirs..or ma'ams. Whilst I am sure your family means no harm, you must understand, these people are superstitious, and you are hurting their means of living. Surely you must realize that if you continue, they will come to ruination, and eventually come after you in force. We were merely asked to regain what you took, and find some peaceful ends to all of this. Can you not realize these people can not afford such frights and loss of their belongings?" <OOC> Rayne says, "do you have a persuasion skill or something of the lines?" <OOC> Altar says, "I sure don't." <OOC> Rayne says, "vuk?" <OOC> Vuk says, "err" GAME: Vuk rolls bluff: (3)+10: 13 <OOC> Smythly will jump in as soon as he gets he chance. <OOC> Vuk says, ">>" <OOC> Vuk says, "in other words- No :P" <OOC> Altar says, "Well, you do but it is like all things, imperfect" GAME: Vuk rolls diplomacy: (10)+2: 12 <OOC> Vuk is not trained for these things! is just lovable by how he RPs! :( THe leprechaun talking with vuk folds his arms "you are silly, nothing is gone." he waves his hands and for a moment the sword is right back where it was.. but then .. its gone with a flick of the green mans fingers. "if you wish to return what has been lost... attack what is there but not." he riddles. Altar looks down at his sword as it reappears and disappears. "I'm no good at riddles. If you want something, you should ask for it. If you don't want to negotiate, then we'll move on to alternative methods." "Oh! we get to pick?" Asks the green man. Vuk is slightly out of his element, he's used to reasonable people, so he steps back a bit, so he can stand beside Altar. "You -did- take a symbol of his faith, I'd advise caution before upsetting him!" Altar nods once, still holding his mace. "I did not come here to mince words with you. You may leave in peace and go disturb someone else, or you may stay and deal with me. Your choice." The Leprechaun looks to Altar "its there where it was, you just can not see, but we will bargin. If you can find us another place to play, we will lift the fog on this village." <OOC> Smythly says, "I'm happy to jon in of you guys want me to. :)" <OOC> Vuk says, "Yes Smythly! Come do diplomacy! :P" <OOC> Rayne grins! <OOC> Smythly says, "Goblin diplomacy? :P" <OOC> Altar says, "Plenty of room for more goblins." <OOC> Rayne says, "they know how to smooth talk!" Vuk glances upwards at Altar. "Isn't there..orcs or Gnolls some where you can bother? Maybe you can go join the crusade against Heth? I bet alot of soldiers would take delight in watching you torment Heth's allies and taking their supplies!" <OOC> Smythly says, "How should I pose in? Assume I was alwayshere? :)" <OOC> Altar says, "Sounds good, another sneeky goblin popping out of the woods won't surprise anyone" Altar looks like he was going to ask Vuk for ideas, but then he offered them without prompting. "Those all sound like good ideas. Go torment those who deserve it." <OOC> Rayne says, "assume you follwed altars tracks" <OOC> Altar says, "Don't need the track skill to follow me :)" "Now what in the name of the Gods is going on here?" demands Smythly. "You're all making quite a racket! I thought there was danger a foot!" The goblin with the hammerh as stopped his approach, now, but he's staring at Vuk and ALtar. The Leprechaun stops talking as he looks to the goblin who is now speaking to the pair. He takes a step back to a near by bush in case he needs to dissapear. Vuk looks at Smythly, oh he's met him before! "I am afraid we can't exactly seem to come to an agreement..so! Perhaps a game is in order.." he says, glancing at the Lepherchaun! "If I allow you to take my prized long gun, and return it to my hand with out the use my wolf, nor my skill at following you, will you agree to leave the poor villagers alone and find those of richer means to bother?" Altar steps aside to let Vuk return to negotiations. "I hope you know what you're doing, making a deal with a leprechaun is like trying to nail horse manure to the wall." Now, Smythly notices the little fellow and just stares for a moment. "Ah. I think someone ought to tell me what's going on here, eh?" Vuk is eyeballed. THen Altar. "A game?" says the little charm master. He listens "you want us to take and return your gun?" He asks not certian of what it is he is speaking of Vuk shakes his head a bit at the Leperchaun. "Oh no, you can take my gun, and I will not move from this very spot, and yet, I will have it! If I succeed then you must leave these people alone and find creatures of darkness to confound, or a community that can afford to lose some chickens..or perhaps you could become protectors of an Orphanage!" You paged Vuk with 'would you like some sort of rolls to be done?' Vuk pages: if they accept and are honest I don't see why we need em :) You paged Vuk with 'great' Altar leaves Vuk to play his game, turning to Smythly instead. "These leprechauns have been tormenting the townsfolk just over there. We came out to talk to them and they disappeared my sword. We're trying to get them to go away." <OOC> Rayne says, "and it looks like your in a lucky charm cartoon atm" <OOC> Smythly laughs. So, Smythly stops. He eyes the War Golem. Then looks at Vuk. Then backa nd forth. Then his eyes fall on the little fellow in green again. "Is that so?" He asks. His voice is quite firm and controlled, lacking the usual goblin squeak. The Leprechaun nods "but you need to find one for us, we found this one fair and square." The family which hides all agree. "it is done." then the echos are all about "it is done, it is done" from every shadow .. its freaky how they do that. The portly one Vuk was talking to waves his hand to float the gun and then with a flick of his wrist, the gun disappears. Vuk will simply sit on the ground, as if giving them a 'headstart'. "Okay! Let me know when you are ready for me to get it back again!" He says with confidence..which is odd, given it is -Vuk-. <OOC> Vuk waits to see what Smythly does about this plan :P Now, Smythly just walked into this, but it's clear that something is going on. Some kind of plan or what have you. So he's not going to jump in and interfere just yet. Rather, he'll wait. Wait and see what happens. It could be well in hand, after all, but it's also clear, from the casual way his hand is drapped across the hilt of th eearhbreaker on his back, that he might wind up smiting Vuk. Just sayin'. <OOC> Rayne giggles. Go for it Vuk simply moves as if to hold his long gun..and it just pops right up into his hands and he settles it across his lap! "Now you have to hold to your word and leave these people alone!" As the gun is pulled and lies into his lap the world shimmers slightly. Altar's Sword re-appears but it still looks cartoonish here where you stand. "Place the girls doll on the doorstep of our next home". The voices say as they all vanish from sight. Vuk will move to stand when they seem to agree..though you know, they need to figure out where to send them. "I'm not sure where would be a good home for such a band! If we had them protect an orphanage..do you think they'd really protect it, or scare the children?" He asks his comrades. "...oh dear," says Smyhtly. "That does not sound promising, actually." He looks between Vuk and ALtar and clears his throat. Just eyeballs the two of them. Altar says, "Why don't you just take the doll across the border to Heth, leave it there and let them mess with those guys." Vuk looks about ready to drop from fright when Altar mentions -him- doing such a thing. "Oh my! No no! I couldn't do that, I am not a soldier!" He squeaks out and looks at Smythly. "Oh! I know! What if we leave it at an Inn frequented by scholars who might enjoy speaking with the Lepherchauns? I know a few from when I traded in meat with them! I'm sure the Owner's won't mind..maybe some are related!" <OOC> Rayne laughs <OOC> Vuk says, "I'm tempted to duct tape it to Jibbom" Altar says, "I guessed you're not a soldier, but you are quite sneaky and you know your way around the wilderness. You should be able to sneak in, drop it off, and sneak out." <OOC> Rayne pokes. <OOC> Vuk says, "I dunno waiting for Smythly to give ideas!" Vuk knows -first- they need to get the dolly, so he'll go to find that child and her parents! "Well first thing firsts! We acquire the doll..and then we explain to an orphanage the situation, so they might take it and gain guardians who will play with the children!" Altar puts his mace away and checks to make sure his sword is real. "So long as they promise to play nice, it sounds like it could work." A band of leprechauns at an orphanage, poor adults! When have leprechauns ever played nice for long? Well at least they will move on if they can get that Dolly. <OOC> Vuk says, "can we yanno, find the kid?" <OOC> Rayne says, "yah back at the village. was hoping to see some poses from our goblin" <OOC> Rayne says, "our other goblin :P" <OOC> Vuk says, "Imma assume he's AFK" Vuk will first speak to the parents of the girl, explaining in the shortest, simplest way possible, if they give them the Dolly, then can bring it some where so the Leperchauns no longer bother the village! Altar does not appear to need to interrupt Vuk, he's on top of it. You travel back to the village and everything is back as it was, you are welcomed as heros and showered in coins and jewels. "Thank you thank you!" The Adults are happy. The girl and her doll play on the porch of her house while her parents rush out to give Vuk and Altar gifts. Vuk sighs quietly and tries to get people to understand! "No No! We need to take the Dolly! They're following it! If we can't bring it to a new home, they won't leave you alone!" Altar takes a look at some of the coins and jewels. "If you guys have all this lying around, no wonder the leprechauns came by to screw with you." <OOC> Smythly says, "Sorry about htat." <OOC> Smythly says, "I got pulled away to help my dad with an errand." <OOC> Rayne says, "its ok" <OOC> Rayne says, "do you want to pose before me?" "Perhaps we ought take it to the Progressive Arcanists, then?" says Smythly, after a moment. But then he nods towards Vuk. "Ah. That makes sense." And wit hthat, he's letting the other two lead. He's just keeping an eye on things at this point to see how the 'heroics' play out. The girl responsible for making Altar's sword disappear has the doll, but then there are lots of dolls in the village.. "Dolly?" The adults question as the child hears the commotion she tries to hide. Vuk is not so easily shaken off the trail, especially when he can hide in all the logical places the child could! "Yes! Her! That dolly! The Leperchauns are following it!" Altar steps into the conversation, addressing the townsfolk. "We are not going to chase down the little girl and take her toy. The choice is yours. You can give us the toy and we will take the leprechauns away, or you can keep it and we will leave you with the leprechauns." "Indeed, so it would appear," says Smythly. "I am Smythly, good villagers, a paladin of Reos. The fey creatures you've been dealing with are...meddlesome, to say the least." But he does nowards Altar. "Perhaps we can bring a new toy to the girl when the matter is done. It is not her fault... is it?" <OOC> Vuk says, "SHE'S A WITCH!" <OOC> Vuk says, "SHE TURNED ME INTO A NEWT!" The girls mother finds her and pulls her up .. and after some quiet talking and tears, the doll is pulled from the childs fingers. The girl goes into "i hate you".. to her mother and tantrums .. but ultimately the doll is given to the adventures.. who are currsed to remember the sadness of the child. <OOC> Vuk pretty sure with what we've seen ICly, its not much of a curse. :P Altar takes the doll with mechanical lack of remorse. "Enjoy your peace and quiet folks."
