   Location: Temple District
Level Range: All

The Temples of Tarien and Ceinara, among others, have organized a Revel parade.

There will be: - Performances!

Individual or group performances welcome. Shows of illusion, feats of skill, mock combats, conjuration, astonishing artifice, feats to delight the mind and the senses.

These can be spontaneous: Ceinara and Tarien both stress the importance of seizing the inspiration each moment affords with boldness and impulsivity!

- Revelry!

Singing and dancing, carts selling food and ale and noisemakers and balloons and arcane and artifice toys and so forth. Fun for everyone!

- Crime! Like it or not, any public event like this attracts pickpockets, con-men, and thieves of all sorts. As well as their victims and those public servants, official or not, who serve by preventing such crimes. Not to mention purveyers of the sorts of victimless crimes that people of delicate breeding don't discuss in public, and those who purchase their services.

Other notes: - If you intend to perform, @mail Yelrona with what times would be best for you, and I'll maintain some kind of VERY LOOSE parade order which will undoubtedly fall apart immediately.

- If you intend to crime against PCs, coordinate with your would-be victims first!

- Remember, don't request RPPs for meetups, that's handled differently.

The air of solemn, heavy divinity in the area is often broken by laughter. The dual presence of the deities Althea and Daeus, man and wife, stand towards the center, with their children and their children's temples positioned around them. The presence of the divine is felt not only by their temples, but also by the actions of their worshipers. The great plaza is as a social center, paved in brilliant, white flagstones and covered in benches and sitting areas. Priests, acolytes, and servicefolk of all stripes roam the plaza, going from one task to the other.

At the front of the temples of Daeus and Althea, at the Plaza's centermost point, rests a great fountain, the cheerful waters reflecting the Sun during the day, and the Moon and Stars at night. The fountain is strategically centered, and is oft a place for wisdom and lesson-giving. It is not uncommon for a priest of some stripe or the other to stand there, surrounded by the curious and faithful, delivering messages of hope or contemplation. At other times, it and the plaza become a landscape of celebration of the holy holidays.

Few vendors are seen in the plaza--the nearby temples provide most food or services. Towards the west, the great Bridge stretches across the river, and towards the east, the Redridge mountains. The plaza rests in the midst of it all, the temples massive and grand on the Alexandrian scale.

[Public] Yelrona says, "Revel Parade begins in the Temple District in an hour! +event 24 for details."

Jinx has arrived. <OOC> Jinx says, "Welp....Munch is here." <OOC> Jinx says, "We need to prank him." <OOC> Munch is sure that will end well for you....

Yelrona 's usual multicolored performance silks are all green and orange tonight, and she's got sparkly stuff highlighting her eyes and her hair, but is otherwise her normal appearance. She looks the golem over a little warily, but ultimately greets him with a friendly grin.

Jinx trots her way easily into the district and....tilts her head at the golem....before walking over, climbing up it's back and sitting on it's shoulder. "Well then. Neat looking war golem here. Wonder why he's standing still."

Yelrona tilts her head to one side. "Well, you know how it is with the larger races. All that wait."

Munch wanders the gathering crowd, his massive axe Reaver over his shoulder. Pausing to peer around, he finds a Lutch on his shoulder, and turns slightly to try and look. "or because if i move too fast I step on little people. And it's hard to get the smell out from between my toes."

Jinx says, "You won't step on me stumpy." She says before looking to Yelrona. "Welp, this one still works." She says climbing back down."

Yelrona laughs at the unexpected joke. Then she frowns, wondering if it was a joke at all. Then she decides she doesn't really want to know. "We appreciate your care, then," she replies with a bow. "You're here for the parade, I assume? Excellent! Your people don't often participate in Alexandria's entertainments, it's wonderful that you're challenging that stereotype."

"We can get you a spot on the Tarienite float, if you want to perform?" she prompts Munch.

Announcement: Whirlpool shouts, "Yelrona's scene starts in ten. All should attend :D"

Munch fehs, and waves vaugely. "Nah, i was asked to play security, watch the crowd for pick pockets. Anyones hand goes where it doesn't belong, cut it off. Didn't specify what i'm supposed to do with the severed hands."

Yelrona gulps a little nervously before returning her previous sunny expression. "Ah. Well. Er. Perhaps you could simply hold onto them instead? The pickpockets, I mean. With their hands. Easier than reattaching later?"

[Public] Yelrona says, "The Revel Parade begins in 2 minutes in the Temple District!"

Yelrona hastily adds "Oh! I should get ready... talk to you all later!" and scampers off.

The Revel Parade has begun! EVENTS: MEETUP: REVEL PARADE is scheduled to start RIGHT NOW!

Crowds have been assembling for hours, as have merchants selling snacks, toys, noisemakers, fireworks, banners, all manner of celebatory kitsch. Revelers have been drinking, dancing, and carrying on. Now the trumpets are sounding and the crowds assemble, excited.

Jinx also zooms off to help with the parade.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "OK, so: I'm going to pose some establishing poses from time to time of the parade going by. Planned order is: Ceinarites, Tarienites, Bardic College, Miscellany. Feel free to pose yourself or NPCs whenever, as inspired... the point of this is PC interaction! Also, if you wanna add a planned part of the parade that's cool too, just give me a headsup."

Whirlpool has arrived.

Several Lucht children are finding themselves unable to see over the crowd and knock on Munch's leg to get his attention. "Mister? Would you mind giving us a lift like you did that lady with the sword?"

Muninn has arrived.

Munch continues to wander the crowd, watching with casual interest. Approached by children, he tsks mildly. "I am not a ladder, and can't stay for long... but, I can help you get up on that ledge there. Should be able to see, and is a rope for when you want to get down again."

Jacob has arrived.

The Lucht children cheer enthusiastically as Munch gives them a better view. "YAY MISTER BIG METAL MAN!!!" "YOU'RE THE BEST!!!" "I DON'T CARE _WHAT_ MY DAD SAYS ABOUT GOLEMS, _I_ THINK YOU'RE AWESOME!!!" The boldest among them gives him a hug around the neck.

<OOC> Muninn says, "pose order? or just anyone pose whenever without drowning everyone?" <OOC> Yelrona says, "The latter."

Whirlpool has partially disconnected.

The parade finally passes this spot, led by an energetic troupe of performers, mostly female, all wearing the red-and-green of Ceinara's followers but otherwise not uniform at all. They are engaged in a kind of improvised folk-dance, cheerfully swinging one another around by the forearms and elbows, from time to time coming together in rings before breaking up in ones and twos and threes.

  • BLAM!* Suddenly a cannon goes off. Except this cannon is spreading confetti around everywhere....and streamers and the like. And some candy...how'd candy get in there. It's tarien's stuff....

All the children and many of the adults scream. The children keep screaming as the candy falls, but in delight as they run around, collecting it.

One of the Ceinarite dancers approaches Jacob with her hands outstretched, urging him to join in the dance.

Jacob grins at the sight before him. Ceinara's flock are in full swing, and he can't help but clap along with the crowd. It was his first official Revel, the city he hails from did not celebrate such things in abundance. Cannon fire does not bother him, as he glances up at the streamers with a smile.

Then he blinks as one of them invites him... and he bows. "Well, first time for everything!" He takes her hand and steps right into the action.

The crowd cheers!

Munch steps quick as the cannon goes off, but relaxes when it becomes apparent there's no attack, just part of the celebration. He continues to keep an eye open for trouble, just in case. Well, both eyes, really. And those leather things on his head are wiggeling a little. Antenna?

GAME: Jacob rolls Perform/Dance: (17)+3: 20

Off on the outskirts of the crowd, near an alley, Muninn sits quietly with her meal: a simple plate of fresh bread and a leg of meat. She seems completely content to watch the parade go by. She visibly jumps when the cannon goes off, the sudden noise a discomfort. However, this is soon replaced with the smallest of whistful smiles as the kids laugh and seem all excited by the candy.

It's not every day that one is invited to directly participate in the parade. Jacob takes to it like nothing else, his first time doing anything like this. And yet...

Somehow, by the luck of the Gods or by Ceinara's hand, either way... it works. He follows, and then he leads. And then he improvises. Jacob laughs as the dance is taken up! Sure his dark blue and bronze tends to contrast with the bright colors of the dancers, but perhaps that's all the more interesting? No matter!

The dancers get more enthusiastic as the crowd participates, especially a fancy-stepping young cleric! Spectators are frequently grabbed and drawn into the dance for a measure or three. Some get carried away with the fun and will go on to dance with the parade for some time, cheered on by the crowd.

A giantborn woman with long red hair tosses a carnation rather forcefully in Jacob's direction. It bounces off his shoulder harmlessly, though. Good thing he's wearing armor!

Amidst the sound of trumpets and... kazoos? And a digiredoo, maybe? And that last one was almost certainly a duck call. Anyway, a large float comes down the road behind the Ceinarite dancers, decked out in the green and orange of Tarien's Temple, with a giant brazen coyote's head sticking out from the top of it, tilted to one side with a curious playful expression, tongue lolling from between jaws open in laughter, lights flickering in jeweled and twinkling eyes.

Yelrona returns, this time lightly balanced on top of the coyote's brazen head, showing off acrobatic poses. As she passes she drops off, landing lightly on her feet, and another performer replaces her.

She skips lightly along the crowd, greeting people and handing out sweets to children, while juggling a half-dozen balls in the air. From time to time one of the balls is replaced by a commonplace item, which one of the spectators suddenly notices he's missing, and Rona makes a whole production out of apologizing for her clumsiness and returning the item in exchange for the ball, which turns out to be "hidden" in the spectator's ears or clothes.

Aldean has arrived.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "For anyone who wants to watch what Rona is doing: I'm not gonna keep rolling, but here's her take10... if your PER beats it and you're watching, you can see her lifting items and palming/planting them on people. I'll page you info." GAME: Yelrona takes ten on sleight of hand+3: (10)+13+3: 26

Verna has arrived.

Munch idly snags a bit of candy, fallen to the ground and trampled a little, few others would want it. But the golem seems content, metal jaws springing open, and adamantine fangs turning candy to powder in an instant.

[Public] Yelrona says, "The Parade event is OPEN TO EVERYONE if that wasn't clear! :-)"

GAME: Aldean rolls perception: (10)+14: 24 to Yelrona Aldean pages: Nah. He didn'tt, and it's no big.

She skips lightly along the crowd, greeting people and handing out sweets to children, while juggling a half-dozen balls in the air. From time to time one of the balls is replaced by a commonplace item, which one of the spectators suddenly notices he's missing, and Rona makes a whole production out of apologizing for her clumsiness and returning the item in exchange for the ball, which turns out to be "hidden" in the spectator's ears or clothes.'

On and around the Tarienite float are a dozen or so men and women of varying races dressed in patchwork multi-colored robes, all different. They are dancing and playing musical instruments, with no particular agreement as to key or tempo or even melody. The result is chaotic but unquestionably joyful, and even the surliest of bystanders can't help but tap their toes and smile.

<OOC> Aldean holds entrance. Aldean pages: He'll be with the bardic college. <OOC> Yelrona says, "That's fine. No pose order, just jump in as inspired."

Not that there are many surly bystanders! One does stand out, though, a coppery war golem standing about six feet at the shoulder, standing perfectly still with its arms crossed, clearly not having any fun.

Sitting high on the float (cuz she'd be missed otherwise), Jinx seems to have a gun of her own. In her case, she's firing confetti and the like into the crowd.....and tossing candy.....She's not shy it seems.

Behind the Tarienites comes a line of more dedicated musicians, anchored by local Bards and the banner of the Bardic College. You've likely seen them around town, busking on the street or performing on stage. They play a combination of familiar folk melodies and new arrangements with great verve and skill, and spectators are inspired to greater revelry in their wake.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Don't worry about keeping up! :-) There's a lot going on, not everyone will notice everything. It's a parade!" <OOC> Yelrona says, "Short form: music, dancing, jugglers, acrobats, cannons firing candy, and a surly golem." <OOC> Yelrona says, "It's a wild time."

A parade. How... delightful. Verna descended the mountain path into a colorful conucopia of chaos. It is for the best that Arbiter GH-057 remained in her chambers. The combination of carousing, candy, cannons and, Verna expects, larceny, would overload it.

GAME: Jacob takes ten on Perform/Dance: (10)+3: 13

<OOC> Aldean heh. Having as much fun as you can in your clothes? <OOC> Yelrona says, "Hey, if you wanna do a striptease for the ladies, go for it! Just, um, stay streetlegal and MUSH-approved." <OOC> Yelrona says, "Or for the guys, come to that." <OOC> Munch isn't wearing clothing.... just sayin... <OOC> Yelrona says, "Oo baby!"

Among the revelers from the bardic college, sitting on top of a horse-drawn float near the back, comes Aldean and several other musicians whose instruments require a seated position to play. His is a set of multiple drums, which he seems to be fairly jamming to as he provides the backbeat for the rest of the musicians.

Jacob is still caught up in the dancing, occupied by the lovely lady in front of him. Still, he does manage to switch partners before long, just to keep things interesting. He does manage to keep up with the dancers now, no longer interested in showing off.

<OOC> Verna finds that the best tactic for convincing someone to remove their clothing is the conjuration of a swamrm of fire ants within them. <OOC> Yelrona thinks Verna should write a romantic advice column for the Tribune. <OOC> Jacob says, "XD" <OOC> Yelrona says, "Sort of Captain Awkward, with fire ants."

Munch pauses, as his name is quietly mentioned, with a little bit of information. By some guy, not important, totally forgetable in the crowd. Which is the point, some of security is meant to be seen, like Munch. Other parts, you don't see until it's too late. With a bit of hidden advise, Munch moves to a differnt part of the crowd, silent, yet loudly discourging improper activity. GAME: Munch rolls perception: (4)+17: 21

<OOC> Aldean says, "Ha. Somehow I think not too many people would object to Aldean going shirtless ... but it's WAY too cold for that." <OOC> Yelrona says, "Anyone got an Endure Elements spell out there?"

A tall willowy brunette who had been staying away from Munch fails to notice the golem's approach as she continues working the crowd. He spots her slicing a belt pouch off the belt of a dancing merchant with a young girl on his (the merchant's) shoulders.

Yelrona approaches the surly copper golem, letting her juggling balls drop into a pouch for the moment. "Excuse me sir... I found this smile recently, and I was wondering if you might have lost it?" She reaches into a pocket hopefully, and offers a brief private thanksgiving prayer to Tarien when she feels an object appear in her hand. She offers the object, which turns out to be a pair of chattering clockwork teeth in the form of a smile, to the golem, who stares at her with what she suspects would be a raised eyebrow, if he had eyebrows.

Verna remains well out of the flow of traffic and, ideally, range of the confectionary cannon. She watches the procession with... well, her expression is hidden in the shadows of her hood, but her posture suggests nothing more than someone waiting to cross the street safely.

Munch's eyes flash with golden light, sparks of arcane chance dancing for a moment before the golem moves. He said he was going to cut off pick pocket hands. He was pretty serious about that. But weapons in crowded places are dangerous. Good thing he's a professional. GAME: Munch casts True Strike. Caster Level: 5 DC: 12 <OOC> Munch also has Great Sunder. fingers aren't exactly weapons, but....

After the Bards the parade continues, a combination of ordinary citizens marching and dancing and occasional performers showing off various sorts of skills -- dancing, juggling, firebreathing, mock combats, tumbling, all sorts of things. From time to time groups of marchers come along under a shared organizational banner, such as the Alexandros Chamber of Commerce or the Exploratory Associates.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Which is the last of my prepared poses, so from here on in it's pure chaos. Which admittedly it's been all along, y'all are awesome!"

<OOC> Yelrona waves to Sandy. Dear God I hope you were following along, cuz summarizing this madhouse will break me. <OOC> Sandy has backscroll xD

<OOC> Muninn wonders about who would see Munch casting? or is it chaotic enough that it wouldnt be noticed?

The unwary pickpocket fails to notice Munch, and backs away with the merchant's pouch in hand. Nobody else seems to have noticed the spellcasting golem, or at least has decided to in any way intervene. Which speaks well of the average Alexandrian's intelligence.

The patterns are there, but they are ever-changing, always a slight variation. However...

Jacob gave a piercing whistle, used to call attention to the other dancers. He changes the pattern again, and then tosses his lady partner into the air, just-so, and she twists in mid-air. Others join in almost at the same time, creating a stunning image. To even his surprise, he catches the lady as she comes down, and resumes the dance!

Jacob laughs. Why had he never done this before?

GAME: Muninn rolls perception: (18)+4: 22 GAME: Muninn rolls spellcraft: (19)+8: 27

<OOC> Munch is not subtle. <OOC> Muninn definately knows WHAT it was. <OOC> Yelrona nods. Yup!

GAME: Munch rolls bab+strength+1+20: (2)+8+6+1+20: 37

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Incidentally, anyone who expects me to resolve Pathfinder skill contests will be deeply disappointed, I know _nothing_. Work it out amongst yourselves, or I'll just make something up, whatever you prefer." <OOC> Aldean can help! <OOC> Yelrona says, "Or ask aldean! :-)"

Munch slices. With the crowd, the noise, the colors, it's not the best of attacks, but he took steps. Weaponized steps. In an instant, there's a stolen pouch on the ground. And fingers. Bets say the yelling will start very very soon.

As Muninn finishes her meal, she can't help but laugh at the chattering teeth gag, particularly considering it's being made to a warforged. Hopefully the warforged in question won't start a fight out of offense..... if they even can be offended? She doesn't know.....

Looking around at the crowd, she has a clear view of Munch when he casts his spell, and instantly is on her feet. No one casts True Strike without intent to hit someone..... Keeping an eye on him, she tries her best to shadow him in the crowd, and see just what he plans to do with the active effect....

GAME: Muninn rolls stealth: (4)+2: 6 <OOC> Muninn not very stealthy.

Yelrona leaves the puzzled copper golem examining the chattering clockwork smile and returns to her tumbling. She ends up in the middle of the dancing Cerianites, and while she is most assuredly _not_ dancing, her tumbling fits in well enough. <OOC> Yelrona O.O

The yelling, in fact, starts very soon. Starting with the hapless thief, hereafter known as Stumpy, and continuing with pretty much everyone in a twenty-foot radius as blood fountains everywhere.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Well. THIS escalated quickly." <OOC> Muninn says, "such disarming charm for a warforged" ;P"

Another pop is heard as another party cannon goes off.....

<OOC> Munch huffs, disarmed no one! Made sure to leave most of the hand intact!

As Muninn moves in quickly as the yelling starts, seeing the gold pouch on the ground, she quickly puts 2 and 2 together.... "I would ask if you need a hand with this, but looks like you have it under control.....".

Stumpy wraps a convenient rag around her fingers and snatches up the pouch with her other hand, because thieves, y'know? She attempts to run away, but the screaming bloodspattered crowd makes that difficult.

Yelrona fails to notice any of this and continues to tumble happily among the dancers. Pfft. Some secret agent SHE is.

Munch is pretty calm. He does this sort of thing a lot. Bloddied axe gripped lightly in one hand, the other waggles a finger at the soon to be nicknamed Stumpy. "Bad. You should know better." He blinks with a soft click. "Are..... are you trying to -run-? From -ME-?! ...oh, that's just ADORABLE..."

<OOC> Yelrona says, "As long as we're doing this, give me an Intimidation roll, Munch. You can aid if you wanna, Muninn" <OOC> Muninn says, "ok. can i use ghost sound to 'amplify' his threats volume and fear factor?" GAME: Munch rolls intimidate: (19)+14: 33 <OOC> Yelrona says, "Absolutely!" GAME: Muninn casts Ghost Sound. Caster Level: 2 DC: 15 GAME: Muninn rolls intimidate: (16)+9: 25

Munin watches the thief run, and with a quick cast of magic, the sound amplifies and distorts frighteningly as he says it!

Stumpy stares wide-eyed at the psychotic and SUDDENLY EXTREMELY LOUD golem whose voice is reverbing in DEEPLY CREEPY ways and drops the pouch, raising her hands and dropping to her knees. "OK, OK, I give up, just keep that THING away from me!"

A teenage khazad nearby looks skeptically at the blood and skoffs. "That's not real blood!" he announces in the confident voice any parent of a teenager knows well. "It's an act!"

Munch buzzes softly, and motions casually, his blade stretching like putty to a long spear, casually hooking the dropped pouch, to be returned. "Name's Munch. Munch TerorMaw. Not 'Thing'. Words hurt, you know."

"SO DO KNIVES!!!" shrieks Stumpy. "Someone lock him up!!!"

The merchant, whose daughter-hat is now safely with her mother, re-approaches the scene. "What's all the ruckus, then? Is there a -- hey, that's my coinpurse!" he shouts, pointing to the dropped brocaded pouch.

Munch buzzes again, peering over the crowd to look for the merchant, who happens to arrive. "Yes. Yes it is."

The merchant looks at Munch warily and VERY SLOWLY bends to get his pouch. He seems ready to run away if the golem so much as glints in the setting sun.

Meanwhile, the parade has mostly moved on down the road to further adventures.

"He could have done worse. With that spell he could have taken your head off instead, i imagine" comes Muninns retort to the thief "Would that have been better, in your opinion?

"IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER NOT TO CUT MY FRIGGIN HAND OFF!!!!" Stumpy seems a little put out by recent events. Plus is exaggerating.

Jacob steps out of the parade with a bow and goes to see if he can jump in anywhere else. Oh, this is too much! Then again, he always did want new experiences, so yes. This is a perfect way to start!

The crowd is starting to thin, especially around Munch and Muninn and Stumpy and NamelessMerchantNumber3.

Munch shrugs. "Best to not have stolen. Don't be a wimp. They'll grow back soon enough." Munch might not have a firm grasp on human biology.

..and by 'thin' we mean backing away rapidly, clutching small children fiercely by the hand.

"But... he has his coinpurse!" Stumpy says hastily. Someone told him once that the warforged are easily fooled by logical tricks... there was a theatrical production about that, something about the crew of a great sailing vessel called 'Enterprise.' It's worth a shot. "So I couldn't have stolen it, right?"

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Consider that a bluff roll with like a -15 penalty. :-)" <OOC> Yelrona says, "Be fooled if it would entertain you."

"Yea, i can see where that injury can make someone feel rather disjointed..... " Muninn can't help being snarky "Where are the guards, anywhay?" She starts looking for them among the quickly-thinning crowd where they all are standing

<OOC> Yelrona says, "Oh, right, guards."

Munch blinks slowly. "....seriously? Come on, my -axe- is brighter than that."

The dragon head etch into the weapon blinks, and rolls it's eye, peering at the golem. "Yeah? Big woop. -I'm- the brains of this outfit, bucko."

The guards were delayed by something else happening on the other side of the crowd. Something very important. Really. But they're arriving now and barking orders to everone to back away and also not move and to explain themselves.

Stumpy begs the guards to arrest her and is taken away in short order, while one of the guards stays behind to take statements.

The guards let everyone go relatively quickly.

Munch answers questions quietly and to the best of his ability. He quite understands if a decision is made to hold him in a cell until everythign is sorted out, wouldn't be his first visit. But despite a record of misunderstandings, the wargolem has made an effort to be on good terms with the Guard.

Verna has disconnected.

Munins response to the guards is simple and to the point: Munch stopped a thief. The end.

<OOC> Yelrona says, "The incident will be circulated among anti-warforged elements in government for months to come." <OOC> Yelrona says, "And then forgotten about." <OOC> Munch says, "likely be repeated in teh assorted theives circles for a very long time." <OOC> Yelrona nods. <OOC> Yelrona says, "WHich is how I'll find out about it IC."

Munch makes a point, if no one else has done so, to assure the fingers are picked up and returned to their owner... along with a recomendation to a good cleric, and a donation to said cleric's faith.

Jinx just watches all of this go on, and shakes her head as she watches this all over.

Muninn can't help but recommend giving the fingers to the local baker. His shop likely sells ladyfingers all the time! Snickering to herself, despite the likely aghast response this would bring, she returns to where she had been sitting before all the shenanigans began.
