- Summary: The party observes Gerzon's warehouse, trying to decide what to do. Their loitering draws the attention of the locals, and they decide to relocate to the Inn and make plans. Some options are discussed, offering to work there as part of paying their passage, sneaking around invisible and after the dark to see what it might contain, observe it a few more days to see what comes in and out, follow Gerzon when he leaves to where he lives, and simply walk up and and knock, then wing it. While they area. Sabina makes an effort to speak to the locals, though they all seem to be eyeing the group suspiciously. The party doesn't belong.

Previously, after dropping off some baggage in Alexandria and booking passage, the party seeking the root of the Baetriov vpire strain awaits the arrival of their transport. This comes in the rebuilt and repurposed Sky Danger (it was changed from Dancer... for... reasons) and first impressions were made... almost to the detriment of convienience. Through fast talking and the blessings of Rada, the captain was again willing to take the group to the trade hub of Sevenport in Easternmost Sendor to find Gerzon, a man who's hired this craft in the past, despite his skeezy reputation.
The group also meets Joro, a singular Jotun travelling with the ship on a tour of the continent. After arriving in Sevenport, the crew quietly bribe the adventurers to take the Jotun with them as they're currently held in port for a time.
Once attaining some indication that their bunny works out of one of the growing settlement's warehouses, they set out to observe for a time to better organize a plan...
Ashlee has picked out a spot where she can observe without being observed. It is excellent in that regard, with few lines of sight and a good bit of shadow obscuring her. As time passes and the day gets darker, it turns out to be a good hiding place because there's nothing to see. A corner of the warehouse, a door that never opens, windows that are too angled and far away to make out even shadows past the foggy glass. She can see in the dark, but that's only relevant if there's something to see... and there isn't.
She wanders back into the street, looking for people who are considering other plans. "Are we going in tonight, or going to bed?"
Sabina has been out of sight for the most part and is geting bored out of her skull. Not that safety and hidding is a bad thing but there's only so much safety a Tarienite can stand in one day. She leans over to Ashlee and shrugs. "I think I'm going to go over and knock. Can't hurt right? Ask to see the man himself. Direct but doable. If they're reasonable folk that is."
The Gobbo wobbles off of the boat, and nearly topples over onto the ground. She manages to stay upright, and ends up clinging to a post. "Irshya's legs don't want to work properly.", she complains. She lets go and wobbles to Sabina, clinging to the woman's hand. She looks to Ashlee when the woman returns, her eyes wide. "Sleep!", she whispers.
Her eyes widen further at Sabina's suggestion. "What gives you the idea that they'll be reasonable?"

Lysos had done her beest to stay back as well, her eyes making her ability to observe rather futile, at least until the night comes. This leaves her a little unreactive to individuals returning from their own attempts at observation until the speak up. When they do... Lysos finds herself nodding to Sabina's idea, then shrugging at Irishya's argument. "Well... I guess it might say something about us if we assume they're unreasonable from the start, right?"
"Ok," Ash says to Sabina's suggestion, not questionning it. As Lysos and Irshya voice objections, she does give it further thought. She looks back at the building, still failing to see anything noteworthy, even the other party members which she knows must be hidden and observing it. She takes her pack off and sets it at her feet, then sits on it.
"One of us approaching will not provoke alarm. Daylight is polite for conducting business. The dark is only useful if we're going to sneak in. If they're going to be unreasonable, it doesn't matter when we go." She looks at the others, "If we aren't going to sneak in, we should come back in the morning."
Sabina glances about and then pauses, bursting into a smile and waving at not one but two people acrross the way at different points. To those about her she chuckles and speaks. "We're being watched by the locals. I think they believe we're here to rob the place we're looking at. But..hopefully we can diswade them from speaking to the guards. That and we need to move on to a place to sleep. But guard should be kept even in an inn. We're total outsiders here."
Burai circles above the building in question in the form of a hawk. He occasionally has to flap his wings but generally just glides. At times he lands on the roof for a brief rest before taking off again. The form is a little new to him, but it's a small relatively inconspicuous bird and (he hopes) not out of place here in the city.
"Irshya can keep guard while others sleep." She gestures at her eyes. "Irshya can see in darkness." The Gobbo gestures with her trident. "Will stab peoples trying to sneak in." She sniffs at the air, and eyes the people whom Sabina waved to. "They will probably see where we go, yes?"
"It sounds to me like whoever is in that warehouse is possibly going to learn of us if we leave for now," Lysos points out. "I mean, I'm all for sleep.. that was a bit of a journey. And maybe they won't like us being interested, and will send someone to kill us in our sleep! Then Irshya can stab them good."
Burai returns to the others, or the largest concentration of others. He chooses the most opportune time to land and to change back into his natural form. "How long are we going to keep watching?" he wonders aloud, having missed some of the conversation. "Days? Weeks? I don't see what else there is to learn more from the outside."
Ash stands, picking up her pack and putting it on. She looks around, still unable to see anything of interest, even the locals that apparently are observing her. She nods towards Irshya, stabbing does sound good. When she speaks, it is a little loud, although still in her typical monotone. "I think they're closed."
She lowers her voice, for only those near her, "Either way, we should go and come back later, when it's darker or morning, as we're being watched now."
Having reached a logical conclusion, she starts off in a direction, hopefully one that has an Inn.
Irshya huddles near Sabina, and nods in agreement with the others, making a faux stabbing motion with her trident. "Yes. Irshya stab bad peoples.", she whispers. "Let's go sleep."
Sabina chuckles softly and shakes her head. Again she lifts her head and finds their watchers, should they still be there, and waves a goodbye. She follows along after Ashes with one hand holding onto Irshya's. "We shall see. Part of me thinks we should check again at night to see if there are any lights within. But that is my adventurers paranoia speaking."
"Well, really, there's lots we could learn from the outside over days and weeks.. What kind of stuff goes? What comes out? Do they leave to eat, or have it delivered? How many different people come and go?" Lysos prattles on for a minute or two more, each idea likely becoming a little more far fetched than the last... though still within the realm of possibility, if not probability. She's following readily enough, though, and it's apparent her words aren't an indicator of her actually wishing to stay and watch. "Sleep definitely sounds good."
The inn isn't very far, and is kept to a particular standard, though the clientelle is largely made up of loaders and shipmen. The bar is well stocked due to the nature of the place, and there are assorted diversions. The group, obviously neither of the typical demographic get some eyes, but are only as curiosities.
The Gobbo is pleasantly surprised by the fact that shipmen frequent the inn, and goes to offer the blessings of Rada to them, before returning to the others. "Are we getting a single room, or sharing a couple? Did we get monies to deal with inns and food?"
The ashen Arvec is used to being stared at, and always willing to return the effort. She selects a place in a corner where the group will have a good view of the door and the kitchen. She drifts along the wall until she can set her pack down and take a seat, then she'll wait to order. Her plans are simple, eat dinner, stare, and once her drink is finished go to her room and sleep.
Or make plans for a covert excursion in the dark of night, that works too. "I'll share." Watching people sleep is another one of her hobbies. "It's our own money. This one is free."
The Tarienite priestess turns her smile on hig as faces turn their way. More waves and nods of hello. Never one to turn down a chance to smile or make another smile. Obviously not hiding her presence either. "I'll pay for our rooms and such. We're here to see about vampires after all." She says in a near whisper to the others and never looses hold of her happy face. "Lets see if we can get a sense of what's going on in the town here while we eat."
Burai looks bemused. "We're going back? What was the purpose of coming all the way here?" He shakes his head. "If we're going to sleep here in this..." he purses his lips trying to think of the right place. "...place, we should make the most of it." He fishes out a coin of his own, he's always taken to carrying a few around on the off chance he has to suffer through a city in his journeys.
Lysos had been looking forward to sleep.. but the smells inside of food reprioitize her wishes. She hesitates a moment, then drops her hood back, taking a deep breath and letting it out. "Food, then. See what the local specialty is? Maybe they'll have some song and dance too." She feels about inside her cloak for one of its inner pockets, pulling out a pair of coins. "It's okay, Luckbringer.. I've got enough. I'm not sure it's a good idea for me to be indebted to luck just yet..."
Ash puts some coins on the table too, and pushes them forward. Some silvers, but on top she included two copper pieces, the last coins she touches as she withdraws her decorated fingers, showing little bones. "I'll eat."
Singing and dancing would be a little too much to ask. She keeps her voice down, it remains monotone, "A blood bath in the warehouse would be well hidden. It might be outside of town. What were you going to say after you knocked, Sabina?"
The Gobbo's stomach growls noisily at the mention of food, and her cheeks colour a deep lavender. "Irshya have few coins. Irshya hungry." She looks to Sabina. "Irshya will work hard in the place we build."
The local specialties are heavy with meat selections from mountainy critters, mixed with some staple starches. There is a goat curry, stag meat steaks, and rabbit stew. Potatoes and sweet potatoes, with some garnishings that are onion, mint and mushroom based.
The inn resembles a big saloon and the fare matches that presentation.
Orders are placed, the serving staff returns first with waters, then drinks of choice, and the meals take a little longer to appear. When they do, it all looks thick and apetizing. The table is full, finishing it all might be a challenge, but Bannon and Joro might also make an appearance.
Sabina holds up a hand to Burai. "We're not heading back. We're going to look into things but we were getting looks from folks. I know those looks. The kind that say.. you don't belong. What the heck are you doing. It was time to move along." She chuckles and sits. To Ashes she shrugs. "Hello? And then I'd wing a few things from there. It's about being comfortable with words and using them with others. Learning what nudges things towards your goals. Freeform." And then a nod and a grin to both Lysos and Irshya.
Ashlee nods, staring at Sabina and listening intently. She doesn't trust her own ability to improvise. She'd likely ask where he keeps his blood bath. It would be sure to catch his attention and move things along. She takes up her utensils and starts on her goat curry, and while she eats mechanically and appears to be counting the bites, the dish has her full attention, suggesting it's a potential favourite. Without looking up, she says, "Ok. Other ideas?"
Irshya actually drools at the assortment of meat based dinner choices. "BinaBina? Can Irshya have... one of each?" Her eyes open wide, and then she attempts to climb into the woman's lap. "What are sweet potatoes?", she wonders of Sabina. She glances around. "Perhaps we could attempt to gain employment in the warehouse?", she says in reply to Ashlee's question.
Lysos tastes some of the goat curry, then her black eyes widen in what is probably delight. "This.. was a great idea," she declares, before spending the next few minutes in silence save for chewing and savouring the meal. If her eyes water a little bit, and her nose gets a touch of the sniffles, it doesn't detract from her enjoyment. "Well.. if they're hiring, maybe, that might work. Could explain our interest in the place.. we arrived as a group, are looking for work as a group? Maybe to pay for the next leg of our journey?"
Burai hunches over a bowl of rabbit stew and stirs it without gusto. "We went to the warehouse because it is tied to Gerzon's business," he muses. "But the first mate said that's not even where Gerzon stays. The only thing we hope to learn is where he really is, no?" He frowns. "Perhaps whatever other clues there are to discover. If we can do so without talking to anyone there, so much the better."
Bina helps Irshya up into her lap and points out the sweet potatoe. "You may have at least a small portion of ecerything. I know you'll eat until your tummy hurts. But.. take your time and savor what you eat this time. Learn what you like and what you don't." She advises the gobbo. To the rest of the group she shrugs. "We're investigating. This takes more time then walking through the sewers looking for gators." She chuckles softly and shrugs. "I intent to stay up a bit later. Work the common room here for information and then.. perhaps we can send out stealth folk over to make sure the warehouse is empty of lights at least. Tomorrow, should I learn nothing tonight, we'll actively hunt for his place of buisness."
The Gobbo gasps and begins to sample everything. Little bits at a time. Just lots of little bites. There's even proper chewing involved. It does appear that she likes everything, especially the goat curry. "What is a goat?", she wonders aloud, rubbing at a cheek. "So many footed critters."
She eyes Sabina curiously. "Alligators? In sewer? Hah. Only if there are deers accidentally falling down there."
Ash looks over at Lysos, "That might work. Bannon, Joro, maybe Burai would make convincing workers. Most don't want me around. That we're working passage could be convincing."
She takes a spoonful of her curry. She also has a few sniffles, carefully hidden with a convenient napkin. It is good. "There might be things to find inside Burai, like sleeping vampires or workers with strange behaviour."
Ashlee listens as Sabina outlines her plan. She takes a sip of her drink, then nods. Finally, the gobbo's question gets an answer, "A sheep with attitude."
Lysos bobs her head a few times while she eats as Sabina outlines her intent, cleaning her bowl with a chunk of bread before making that disappear too. "Oh my. Hey. We want you around, mourner Ashlee," she tells the arvec. "Anyone who doesn't is just weird." Said as if Lysos had never had her own reservations about the skull faced cleric in past. "Ah.. do you think they'll open up to you, Luckbringer? I mean.. I know you're good at that. I know that very well. But... " Lysos turns her face a little bit to look at someone at the bar. "I think that one has an actual hairy eyeball."

"Thanks," Ashlee says, giving Lysos a long stare in reward. She's paused in the middle of her eating, but when she resumes she copies the bowl-cleaning method. Finishing off her bread, she takes another sip of her wine. It's a medium sized glass of house-red, and she doesn't swallow much at a time. She snorts, "Hairy Eyeball. Sounds itchy. I can help explore the warehouse."
There are a few eyes on the group. Furtive, quick to look away.

Irshya blinks and stares at Ashlee. "Is... is this a thing, a hairy eyeball? Wouldn't that hurt?" She quickly returns to snarfing little bits of everything. She seems enamored by the sweet potatoes, and snarfs more than a little of them.
Bina quiets down as the others chat and eat. She even notes Joro's arrival and grins a bit. Lifting Irshya she gets up and then settles Irshya back down in her seat. "I'll be right back. Don't go eatting all my food. But you can have my sweet potatoes. Ok?" She winks and then moves slowly through the place and then pauses, turning her head to smile at someon at their table. And without speaking or waiting for invitation, settles into a seat across from them. "Hello. Perhaps you can help us, hmm? You seem to have a good eye."
"Yes," the ashen Arvec nods at her smaller cousin, taking another slow sip of her red wine. Sabina captures her attention and she watches as she moves about the room. Ash stares all the time, this is not unusual, her attention is usually drawn by movement. However, her interest seems strong. Observing her friend, yes friend, Sabina confirmed it! Observing her friend might teach her some useful techniques, thus she does. Of course, it means anyone looking at the tarienite likely sees a skull-faced Arvec watching them from far behind her. This might affect things. Ash fixes her gaze on Irshiya again, "If you look around you'll see some, when they look at us."
