- Summary: Hired by the Guild of Adventurers, to clean out a Tomb of Skeletons
- APL: 4
- Encounter 1: 8 CR 2 Ogre Skeletons (CR 8 Encounter)
The guild gathered you all together by various means, either you inquiring about the job, or sending messages. It seems a minor lord recently purchased a new piece of property. He and his retinue went out to survey the new property and stumbled across a massive tomb. The tomb had lay sealed for an unknown length of time, but of course it isn't now. Its seal was broken and skeletons, the walking dead were released. THey have been plaguing the noble and his retinue and they are worried about them spreading further. You have been hired to wipe them out. There seems to be something being left unsaid. Anyway, you are the noble's land and nearing the hill that had turned out to be the raised mound of the tomb, should be over the next rise.
Alik looks up from a set of knobs he has been fine-tuning on his armor throughout the entire trip as the party approaches the tomb. "Bah. Undead foolishness," he says dismissively. "Who builds constructs from flesh and bone? Weak materials. Is wrong tool. We clean up now."
"The problem with skeletons," grumbles Celeste as she speaks to nobody in particular, "Is there's no meat on 'em. Can't even get marrow out'f their bones even, not really. Rather makes killing them... again... a rather thankless task, if you ask me." The half-orc gladiatrix walks along with the group, letting her long stride carry her forwards at what might look like a leisurely pace. She has her shield strapped to one hand, and her other holds her trident with the haft rested on her shoulder and the points swaying in the air, dangerous to anyone who might otherwise want to walk on her left. Blood from the squirrel she managed to catch earlier and eat... well... more or less alive, for the start of it at least, still graces her lips and chin. "Well, let's get on with it."
The pint-sized paladin has spent most of the journey from city to tomb, lost in thought. Not so much that she forgets to avoid obstacles -- more than once -- but it's clear the unsaid parts of the client's request are eating at her attention. As they near their destination, she scribbles a few things down in a notebook, then begins to wonder aloud. "Perhaps it was a rival family's tomb...? Did the lord hae the bodies raised to get a better deal? ...Promising line of inquiry, make sure to find undead that can speak, and interrogate further..."
Ga'Elian is riding his griffon, with longbow in hand, but not nocked. He is not talking, but rather keeping his eyes open and his ears attentive. The griffon is keeping the same pace as the rest of the party, which seems best suited to the gnomes.
Carwyn didn't think twice about the things left 'unsaid'. Abominations were causing havoc, and he was here to help! That was all he needed to know. "Yes, they are vile creatures, indeed. Hopefully we can dispatch of them quickly." He would mutter small prayers to Althea before the entering the tomb with the others.
Ashelia walks silently along with the group, though internally she is somewhat frustrated with this mission. Her choice of weaponry is not well suited to slaying things like skeletons, but she will do her best. She is curious how one just stumbled upob a tomb, but she's confident the group can handle whatever is thrown at them.
Ga'Elian asks, "Hath any of you any holy water?"
Ashelia shakes her head.
Alik shakes his head.
Carwyn frowns. "No."
"....Heth? What?" Safiya says, blinking rapidly as she looks around to Ga'Elian. "Oh. Um. No, I don't?"
By way of an answer to Ga'Elian's question, Celeste verbalizes nothing. Instead she makes a loud hrrrrok sound, turns her head, and spits, leaving a largeish puddle of gob in the middle of the path.
Ga'Elian says, "Alas. Neither do I." As Celeste horks up her gob, he looks a bit disgusted.
You can see the rise, and on top of it is a red flag, which is what they say they marked the edge of the valley the tomb was in.
"Is any of you scouting?" Alik asks, looking around at the party.
Celeste shrugs her shoulders. "I will," she replies to Alik, and starts striding forwards at a quicker pace. "When something leaps out of the woodwork and tries to gnaw all the flesh off my arms, by all means come help me kill it. I promise you I'll make lots of noise."
Alik nods. "Is not what I meant, but is not bad plan."
Ga'Elian smirks and says, "I am happy to go on ahead and look for surprises." "...I do have to say, that's a... novel... means of scouting," the little paladin murmurs, unlimbering her shield and hammer. "Though a count before battle at least would be something worth knowing. If you'd like to do that, sir," she says to Ga'Elian, "that would probably be wise. Just... do try not to start the battle without us?"
Ga'Elian says, "Not unless I be ambushed. Carwyn, wilt thou allow Erithamiel to heel to thee while I go on ahead?"
Sighing softly at everyone's antics, she draws her blades, holding them at her sides as the individuals plan to go ahead of the group. "Try not to get ambushed, then." She says to Ga'Elian, a half smile on her face.
Alik backs warily away from the griffon, which looks like it could devour him in a single gulp if it had a mind to.
Carwyn shrugs. "Sure." looks towards the tomb. "Go on, then. Be careful."
Ga'Elian tells the griffon, "Erithamiel, guard." <sildanyari> pointing at Carwyn, then goes on ahead, leaving the road for any trees or shrubbery that might conceal him.
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls Stealth/natur: aliased to Stealth+3+1: (20)+11+3+1: 35
Alik mutters impatiently, waiting for the elf to get going. Then he looks around and realizes he's already gone.
You paged Ga'Elian with 'you are able to get to the top of the rise and look down onto a valley that has a large mound in the center. There are massive skeletons standing roaming around out side the mound. That is what they forgot to tell you, they are big skeletons.'
Ga'Elian pages: How many can I see? and What approximately how far is the tomb from the rise in the hill?
You paged Ga'Elian with '200 ft down but they are between you and it. and about 12'
Ga'Elian returns to the group to say, "The tomb lieth some 200 feet beyond this rise. I saw about 12 skeletons between it and here, but these be large, as if the skeletons of giants."
Ga'Elian pages: Are the skeletons carrying obvious weapons?
Alik 's eyes light up at the reference to giants. "Yes. Is to be destroying now." He checks a series of connections between cables on his chest.
You paged Ga'Elian with 'nope now weapons'
Ashelia frowns a bit at that. "So it's gonna be a challenge just reqching the tomb? This sounds like it might be a rough crypt we're to clear out. Might as well not waste time, then."
Ga'Elian agrees and casts a spell upon himself.
GAME: Ga'Elian casts Aspect of the Falcon. Caster Level: 5 DC: 14
"Giant skeletons?" Safiya repeats, incredulously. "That sounds... unusual, indeed. Hm... Well, I suspect we'll know more once we're inside, and since we've a respectable wall of bone to travel through to get there..." Her hammer boinces once in her hand, and she begins to climb the last of the hill. "Best be on our way." As the spell goes into effect, Ga'Elian takes on a hawkish appearance. His eyes spread to the sides of his head, where feathers sprout from the sides of his face. Nodding, she follows the dark gnome, ready to clear out these beasties, hopefully without too much trouble.
Celeste grunts softly. "Best not waste time then," she grumbles, continuing her forward walk. "Anyone that can take a beating, come with me then; the rest of you that are of a more..." she trails off. How to say this without it being rude? "Anyone more intellectual, stand behind us and do... I don't know. Smart things." She bangs her trident hard against her shield as she continues forwards. "You, short thing in the armor. Come on, catch up. You seem like you know what you're doing."
Ga'Elian looks at Celeste wondering whether he is the short thing in armor to which she is referring. He says, "everybody ready, then?" and casts one more spell.
GAME: Ga'Elian casts Gravity Bow. Caster Level: 5 DC: 14
Alik snorts and unlimbers his firearm as he trots along. "I do smart things, thank you."
Carwyn always considered himself an intellectual. As such, he moves along beside Alik and Ga'Elian, drawing his bow and nocking an arrow. "I wonder if dead things are evil..."
"Lancer Safiya, thank you," the gnome shoots back, stumping after Celeste with shield and hammer in hand... though carwyn's question gives her pause, and she turns to blink at him. "...Yes? I mean it's barely even a question, the whole reason they're even moving is they're *stuffed* with evil magic."
Ga'Elian repeats, I ask again, "Is everyone ready to spring the attack? I could sneak or run up to normal longbow range, but I'm inclined to just run. The griffon will attack when I command him to, but he must attack with beak and claws."
Alik snorts again and mutters about inefficient construction mechanisms. "Am ready," he says, loading his thunderbelcher.
Ashelia tilts her head a little at their conversation, but snaps to attention at Ga'Elian's words. "Ready for battle, yes." She answers, readying her blades with a grin.
"Lancer Safiya. Pleasure," Celeste half-growls, which might be as close as she ever gets to a pleasant tone of voice. "Celeste Cinderfall, Gladiatrix of Charn. Now that we've managed our pleasantries, perhaps we can leave the philosophical crap alone until we've killed all the skeletons." She pauses, glancing over her shoulder at Ga'Elian, "No, don't do anything idiotic. Just wait for those of us wearing metal to join the skeletons in battle and back us up. You know how to fight, right? Just... do whatever you do."
Carwyn opens his mouth to speak, but yeah probably not the time for philosophical crap. Instead he gives the ranger a small nod. "I am ready."
Ga'Elian glares at Safiya, "Er, yes. I know how to fight," Fingering the ettin-tooth necklace he wears, "And closing range is not idiotic.
You reach the top of the rise and everyone sees the hole that opens into the mound that is the tomb and the large skeletons wandering around outside it. THey have yet to notice you.

Celeste sighs inwardly. Why are they always so far away? She curls her fingers around the haft of her trident, grumbles something unintelligable. "Keep up as best you can," she mutters, and then promptly makes that impossible for anyone with shorter legs than her own by moving forwards at a brisk pace. Take them by surprise? They're unintelligent skeletons, how surprised does anyone really expect them to be, she reasons? Just smash them and get it over with.
<OOC> Sora says, "you can move 30 and 40 respectively." GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round One - Init 12. It is now Alik's turn! Safiya is next!

<OOC> Sora says, "back to Celeste, full actions avail this turn" <OOC> Celeste says, "SHould I wait for poses from everyone after Alik?" <OOC> Sora says, "no you can do your action, just try to wait to pose till, but its okay if poses a little out of order" <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "So Inspire courage bonuses are now in effect?" <OOC> Celeste Nodnods. Can I reach the skellies this round with normal movement? <OOC> Sora says, "you are at 160. so no." <OOC> Celeste will just keep going then! <OOC> Celeste says, "Actually, if they're not advancing, I'll wait for Safiya to catch up." <OOC> Sora says, "okay" GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 18. It is now Ga'Elian's turn! Alik is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "you can run this turn." <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Yes, gonna run. Griffon will stop at melee range, but isn't close enough to charge. Elian will run to stop at 100 ft range to targets."
Carwyn sighs watching his companions charge very slowly into battle. He starts humming an enchanting tune before playing catching up.
<OOC> Sora says, "ok"
Ga'Elian and his griffon just keep closing to their desired range, at a run, and preparing to engage. They are both focused.
GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 12. It is now Alik's turn! Safiya is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "alik" <OOC> Alik reloads, fires, and moves (20'/round). Not sure how much of that is actually doable in one round. Same range as before, +1 for bardic courage <OOC> Safiya says, "Is this an actual gun, or a death ray?" <OOC> Alik says, "Actual gun. Thunderbelcher." <OOC> Alik says, "Saving DR charges for closer range." <OOC> Sora says, "do you have rapid reload or firearm mastery?" <OOC> Alik says, "Nope." <OOC> Safiya says, "THen the reloading is a full-round action on its own." From afar, Ga'Elian notes that Safiya is down 13 hp. <OOC> Alik says, "Ah OK. Reloads, then." <OOC> Sora says, "yep, so can only reload" <OOC> Ashelia says, "So you can reload and move 5'." GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 11. It is now Safiya's turn! Skeletons is next!
<OOC> Safiya takes a Run action to get.... 60'. XD
Alik trots towards the incipient melee, reloading his gun and swearing in gnomish. <<The only good giant is a dead giant my battery-powered ass...>>
<OOC> Sora says, "ok" GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 10. It is now Skeletons' turn! Carwyn is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "Celeste, Saf ran by you want to move up next to?" <OOC> Celeste Noddles, does!
Despite the graciousness of the barbarian in waiting for her to catch up, Safiya is concentrating too much on what is very much hard work, running full-tilt down a hill, in armor that very likely weights as much or more than she does. And even then, she doesn't pull *terribly* far ahead.
<OOC> Sora says, "add that in." GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (9)+7: 16 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (6)+7: 13 <OOC> Sora says, "what is your griffon's ac?"
Celeste does recognize the inherent stupidity of charging into battle by yourself like some sort of mad-woman with a deathwish, which might normally describe her quite well anyway, so she stops to wait for Safiya at least to catch up. And catch up she does! Once the shorter being has pulled ahead Celeste resumes motion, moving at a much easier pace for her, at least, simply to keep pace with the gnome so neither of them wind up in battle alone.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "16" GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (16)+7: 23 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (7)+7: 14 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (15)+7: 22 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (12)+7: 19 GAME: Sora rolls 1d4+5: (4)+5: 9 GAME: Sora rolls 1d4+5: (4)+5: 9 GAME: You damaged Ga'Elian's companion for 18 points. 19 remaining. GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 10. It is now Carwyn's turn! Ashelia is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "carwyn"
Two of the Skeletons move and attack the griffon each scoring with a bony hand. The others all move a lot closer to everyone else.
<OOC> Carwyn says, "How far are Safiya and Celeste?" <OOC> Celeste thinks we're 75 feet forward so far? <OOC> Safiya nodnod. <OOC> Sora says, "hey are 80ft from you." <OOC> Carwyn says, "And the skeletons?" <OOC> Sora says, "140" <OOC> Sora says, "and 2 at 200" <OOC> Carwyn will run right behind the tanks. <OOC> Carwyn says, "So like 75." <OOC> Sora says, "okay." GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Two - Init 9. It is now Ashelia's turn! Celeste is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "ashelia" <OOC> Ashelia says, "Ashe takes a double move, but stops to advance alongside the other frontline members of the party." <OOC> Sora says, "ok"
Ashelia continues her forward advance, eyes warily keeping track of both the giants and her companions. She doesn't want to be caught off-guard by anything. When she reaches the two sturdy warriors she gives them a nod. "3 people are better than 2, no?"
GAME: NEW ROUND!
Sora advances the initiative order. Round Three - Init 23. It is now Celeste's turn! Ga'Elian is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "Celeste" <OOC> Sora says, "they are 60'" <OOC> Celeste Hmm <OOC> Celeste will just advance the 60', be where Safiya will be, and be ready to engage next round. <OOC> Sora says, "note. you will take at least 1 or 2 aoo. big skeletons...they have reach" <OOC> Safiya says, "Sora, do these skellies have the GIant subtype?" <OOC> Celeste says, "But I don't, and my move is 40. So no matter how I slice it I'm going to have to let them attack first." <OOC> Ga'Elian bears witness. <OOC> Celeste has a shield, she'll be fine. <OOC> Sora says, "yes Safiya" <OOC> Safiya says, "*Awesome.*" GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (15)+7: 22 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (20)+7: 27 GAME: Sora rolls 1d20+7: (1)+7: 8 (EPIC FAIL) GAME: Sora rolls 1d4+5: (2)+5: 7 GAME: Sora rolls 1d4+5: (3)+5: 8 <OOC> Safiya says, "Oh thank crap." GAME: You damaged Celeste for 15 points. 21 remaining. <OOC> Sora says, "ok pose moving up and two of the skeletons hitting you." GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Three - Init 18. It is now Ga'Elian's turn! Alik is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "Ga'Elian"
"Yes," Celeste growls to Ashelia, "In all situations. Including if you've had to resort to cannibalism." She continues moving forwards, matching pace with Safiya and more or less expecting Ashelia to keep up it seems. "The one on the left," she adds, glancing to the gnome, "We'll hit that one first, yes?"
<OOC> Sora says, "bulk of skeletons at 40' two with your griffon at 100" <OOC> Celeste adjusts. <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Griffon full attack DEFENSIVELY. Bite and one claw on left dude, right claw on right dude. Me after that." GAME: Ga'Elian rolls comp_Melee+1-4: aliased to 1d20+5+1-4: (4)+5+1+-4: 6
"Yes," Celeste growls to Ashelia, "In all situations. Including if you've had to resort to cannibalism." She continues moving forwards, matching pace with Safiya and more or less expecting Ashelia to keep up it seems. "The one on the left," she adds, glancing to the gnome, "We'll hit that one first, yes?" Of course, this advance brings her in range of the skeletons; she brings her shield up, absorbing several blows with it. Don't worry, she's thinking; I have a shield. I'll be fine. Then, promptly she's bleeding from a pair of wounds, and grits her teeth. Don't worry, she's thinking; I'm goddamn tough. I'll be fine.

Round Three - Init 12. It is now Alik's turn! Safiya is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "Alik" <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Double Ugh." <OOC> Alik fires and moves as far as he can (base 20). If my math is right the skeletons are (135'-move) away now, so 3 increments, so -6 to hit, +1 for bardic courage, I think? Shoot the one everyone's trying to pound on. <OOC> Sora says, "okay.." <OOC> Sora says, "Saf" <OOC> Safiya says, "Is the one Celeste engaged the same one that pounded on the bird?" <OOC> Sora says, "nope. the griffon is much further. Celeste was hit by 2 skeletons"
"Only good dead giant is MORE DEAD dead giant," Alik snarls as he trots towards the front line, aiming his firearm and tripping over a rock, scaring a nearby ground squirrel as the bullet shatters a tree branch not far from its nest. "DIE DIE DIE!!!"
<OOC> Safiya nods. THen I, like her, shall move the full 60' and eat the AoOs, but I'll have AC 27 against them. <OOC> Alik says, "How far does Alik move in his turn? (Keeping track of range.)"
Ga'Elian shoots twice at the gi-skel approaching him, both shots missing their mark. His griffon has an even worse time trying to attack the ones that dealt him such heavy blows, partly due to the fact that the griffon is also trying to dodge their blows. The elf takes a 5foot step back and shouts, "Erithamiel, DOWN!" <sildanyari>

Sora advances the initiative order. Round Four - Init 23. It is now Celeste's turn! Ga'Elian is next!
Running up behind the half oruch, Carwyn lifts his bow to let loose an arrow at the skeleton...all the while a soft (but loud enough for all to hear) song leaves his lip in the rhythm of the battle. An arrow, seemingly blessed with divine power, hits the vile creature.
<OOC> Sora says, "Celeste, you have 3 on you, one behind you is flankable with Ashelia" <OOC> Celeste is going to rage, and then do a full round attack on the flankable one. <OOC> Sora says, "ok" Ashelia closes the distance, getting in with her allies, ready to strike but also divert some of their attention. <OOC> Celeste says, "Which will be a jab with my trident, shieldbash, and bite." <OOC> Sora says, "+rage and roll it" GAME: Celeste RAGES!, gaining +2 to melee attack/damage/Will saves and 6 temporary HP <OOC> Celeste says, "Thing is, I can't remember what penalty to put on for multiple attacks, and I am only just realizing this." <OOC> Safiya says, "You have TWF?" <OOC> Celeste says, "I do." <OOC> Celeste has power attack as well, which she'll be using. <OOC> Safiya says, "-2/-2 for your regular attacks, -5 for your bite before Power Attack." <OOC> Celeste says, "And what's the bonus for flanking again?" <OOC> Alik says, "+2, I think" <OOC> Safiya says, "Yus." <OOC> Celeste says, "So total of -1, -1, -4" GAME: Celeste rolls melee-1: (19)+9+-1: 27 GAME: Celeste rolls melee-1: (17)+9+-1: 25 GAME: Celeste rolls melee-4: (8)+9+-4: 13 <OOC> Safiya says, "Good lord. <OOC> Sora says, "Alik" <OOC> Alik says, "If I'm following, Alrik is now 70 feet from nearest skeleton. Can he do that double-run thing someone mentioned earlier to get to 30' range?" <OOC> Sora says, "yes." <OOC> Alik says, "Done."
Alik stares at his rifle as the ground squirrel chitters angrily at him. "THIS... is wrong tool," he decides, putting the thing away and charging into closer range.
GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.
Round Four - Init 11. It is now Safiya's turn! Skeletons is next!
<OOC> Sora says, "Saf...you have 3 on your, 1 behind you you can get flanking on"
Celeste has been bloodied. The enemy struck first! Not that it was unexpected. The half-orc wards off more blows with her spiked shield, and snarls loudly. "That's it," she snaps, "YOU ALL DIE NOW!!" She peels her lips back and howls at the top of her lungs, her eyes taking on a savage glint as she rounds on the nearest of the giant skeletons. Her triden sees use less as something more akin to a battering ram as she destroys one half of the rib cage with it in one chop, then follows up with the shield for the other half. "DIE!!" she howls, "PATHETIC LITTLE MAGGOT FARM, DIE DIE DIE!!" As the giant crumbles she snaps her teeth at it; she doesn't quite connect with that, but satisfies herself with kicking the thing's skull loose, before rounding on the survivors.
<OOC> Safiya says, "Wasn't that the one Celeste ust killed?" <OOC> Sora says, "yes but with how they moved you can get flanking on one of them. got to remember they are large..so makes it a little easier"
As Ga'Elian's griffon withdraws from the engagement, Ga'Elian himself looses a singlr arrow, striking its intended target. He then takes the chance to put a little more distance between him and the approaching undead.
<OOC> Safiya says, "Granted. Is the one I can flank the one with Carwyn's Smite on?" <OOC> Sora says, "yes" <OOC> Safiya says, "Then I'll make one of the others my Smite target, and give up the flanking bonus in favor of drawing attention. :3" <OOC> Sora says, "ok" GAME: Safiya rolls melee+1+3: (15)+5+1+3: 24 <OOC> Sora says, "hit" <OOC> Sora says, "what is your weapon?" <OOC> Safiya says, "Warhammer." <OOC> Sora says, "k roll dam" GAME: Safiya rolls 1d6+1+3: (1)+1+3: 5 <OOC> Safiya says, "Bah." <OOC> Sora says, "hurts it still.." Finally able to retaliate, Safiya turns to the skeletons *past* the front line draws in a breath, and crashes her warhammer against her shield. "IN THE NAME OF SERRIEL," she.... well it's more dignified than a squeak, but a Gnome can only have so much authority. "LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS AND PLACE YOUR HANDS ABOVE YOUR HEAD!" Her warhammer bursts alight with a dazzling silvery radiance, and leaves a somewhat impressive set of spiderwebs against the skeleton's shin-bone.

Round Four - Init 10. It is now Carwyn's turn! Ashelia is next!
The Skeletons continue to harry the allies, one rips into Celeste pretty good followed by another, while Ashelia gets missed by the two that move to engage her. Even the two fighting Safiya, manage to score on her.
<OOC> Sora says, "Carwyn" <OOC> Carwyn will shoot at the one he's been shooting. Lay down your arms....'Is that how to be a good paladin' Carwyn ponders. He is new at this whole thing, but could skeletons really understand such a command? Even with the gods on his side, that seems unlikely. Instead of comtemplating it any furthur, he shoots another arrow, killing the thing.
<OOC> Ashelia says, "When I said full action I meant full attack action, my bad." GAME: Ashelia rolls RapDam+1: aliased to 1d6+3+1: (4)+3+1: 8 GAME: Ashelia rolls SsDam+1: aliased to 1d6+1+1: (2)+1+1: 4 <OOC> Ashelia says, "That's it for me." GAME: NEW ROUND!

Okie." <OOC> Celeste says, "No, I mean I did forget it."
Ashelia dips to the side as one giant skeleton makes a swipe, then retaliates, piercing it with her rapier, sidestepping the second large undead's blow to pierce her initial target with the shortsword as well.
<OOC> Celeste says, "Crits, do I just double the whole works?" <OOC> Safiya says, "Double the dice you roll and your bonus." GAME: Celeste rolls 1d8+9: (5)+9: 14 <OOC> Sora says, "yep. only thing doesn't double is like sneak attack, or other bonus dice damage" GAME: Celeste rolls 2d4+20: (3)+20: 23 <OOC> Celeste says, "So 37" <OOC> Sora says, "you kill it" <OOC> Safiya says, "o.o" <OOC> Safiya suddenly feels even smaller. Round Five - Init 11. It is now Safiya's turn! Skeletons is next!
Alik removes a sharp needle from the chest-unit of his armor and shoves it into his own arm, then unlimbers a strange-looking device comprising three long metal rods bound by copper wire to a ceramic tube. He flips some switches and turns some knobs, and multi-colored sparks work their way up and down the length of the rods, making a creepy theramin-like sound, as well as sending sparks into his body. He twitches a little as he plugs a wire into a socket and a violet actinic arc sparks from the device. ...hitting the nearest skeleton.
<OOC> Sora says, "Safiya"
The half-orc gets thoroughly ravaged by the skeletons attacking her, but doesn't seem overly concerned about the fact that she's bleeding profusely and is even showing bone in one spot on her arm. Is that stopping her? "DIE!!!" she screams, like it's her favorite word, all while dribbling blood from her mouth. She spits, steps to the side, and cleaves an arm off one of the skeletons by just... bashing it away with her trident. "HATE YOU!!" she snarls, as she kicks the giant undead's leg out from beneath it, and then jumps, twisting in the air and bringing the shield down hard as she lands; the hit connects with the giant's skull, shattering it, collapsing the spine, and sending ribs skittering about all over the place. "WHO WANTS TO BE NEXT?!?"
<OOC> Safiya will continue to wail on the one I'm taking on. XD <OOC> Sora says, "ok" GAME: Safiya rolls melee+1+1+3: (20)+5+1+1+3: 30 (THREAT)

"YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN DECEASED!" Safiya thunders through the blood streaming down her face, her hammer finding the crack again and hitting with suck force that the shock splits the shin in two, then the femur, and -- against all probability -- shatters the top two vertebrae, sending the head ro rolling onto the ground. Turning to face the rest of their foes, she pants. "Does anyone else understand your rights as I have read them to you?!"
GAME: Sora advances the initiative order.

As blood starts draining from the freshly-delivered wounds, one in her shoulder and one in her side, Ashe grits her teeth, weakly thrusting both blades at the skeleton before limping a few feet away. Her rapier glanced off the bone, but she'd felt the short blade solidly injure the bone structure before she started her retreat.

Celeste says, "GGGRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHHHH!" is the sound issuing forth from Celeste's lips, as the half-orc bleeds and fights, apparently right in her favorite place to be. She shifts her grip on the trident, and steps to one side, lashing out at the one trying to squash Safira. "LEAVE MY LITTLE FRIEND ALONE!!" she howls, shattering several ribs before turning her attention to the one trying to cleave Ashelia. She roars; and through it, somehow hears that whisper from Carwyn... and manages to make her spiked shield connect, rattling bones and dislodging skull from neck, sending the beast crashing down into a useless pile of calcium. Ashelia steels herself, choosing to help her allies instead. She gives a heroic cry, clutching her side with her offhand and stabbing it straight through the leg, spiderwebbing cracks traveling up the bone.

Celeste is still creaming. By golly the woman has lungs. She bullrushes the last skeleton, "DIEEEE!!" coming off her lips as she lances her trident, scraping down the side of the skeleton; it's her shield that gets the job largely down, as she crashes straight through the spine and rib cage, hammering the giant down to the ground. "RAAAWWRRRGHHH!!!!" she howls ,and somehow manages to get her teeth around the thing's shoulder blade, biting down so hard that she shatters that too, and spits out bones splinters mixed with blood. "WHO'S NEXT?! ANYONE ELSE?! ANYONE WANT TO BE NEXT?!" she yells, stomping off towards the tomb; and those giants there are crumbling. She turns, eyeing up the rest of the party; no, no don't kill them, those people are alright. Her shoulders slump a little, and she breathes out heavily, dropping to one knee for a moment as she finally calms down enough to inspect her wounds.
As the last skeleton is dropped, the four back by the tomb crumble into piles of bones as well. It is strangely quiet once more. Looking around you fill find runes and words in Jotun carved into the entrance to the tomb. Apparently opening the tomb released a curse that awakened the skeletons. It was an ogre burial mound. There doesn't seem to be anything else now, other than the piles of bones and a few mummified corpses within. Apparently Ogres controlled this part of the land and this is where their dead were burried. There are a few valuables, that would aid to your fee for this job, but it was definitely not an easy job of clearing it out. The noble will have to do some clean up. It is a quite trip back to the city.
As the story of the tomb comes out, Safiya seems.... rather disgruntled, by the truth. "Note to self," she mutters, carefully closing the worst of her wounds before the trip back, "deliver report to Vardaman Temple, so they can take care of this mess *properly,* like the family should have done in the *first* place. Then... paperwork." It's odd, to hear someone speak of paperwork in a way that *isn't* a complaint, but, Gnome.
