- Title: DEVA AF FFS, Part 5
- Emitter: Cryosanthia
- Characters: Havi, Morgan, Sasha, Seldan, Shalethiste, Thurid, Merek
- Place: H01: Kultari Road - DEVA AF Station
- Time: Sunday, December 27, 2020, 5:27 PM
- Summary: Time has passed at DEVA Station, all of the 'Bloody Fingers' patients have recovered and are in observation. The others are showing improvement, though there has been no major breakthrough. Herbs, alchemical solutions, daily care and good conditions are assisting natural recovery. There is a lot of cleaning to be done, Morgan assists primarily with that, using her prestidigitation. Havi helps out with the general labour, Sasha, Seldan and Shalethiste go where they are needed. Thurid concentrates on the Black Plague sufferers while Merek is everywhere. The routine is interrupted by Major Kreemo, who is not satisfied. He's afraid the strange wooden flesh his soldiers have will get them executed as spies. Further elaboration on his part suggests that Bludgun sent his caravan more as a test of Alexandria's capabilities than out of true humanitarian need. He dumps his problems on the healers to solve, and while they don't come to a decision, they appear to and that satisfies the goblin.

From east to west, north to south, the Alexandrosian countryside weaves over hill, valley, and farmland. Kultari Road meanders through it at a comfortable pace. The roadside is lined with curbstones, their surfaces comfortably flat and warm, with sand pressed inbetween. At times construction meanders into dirt, and numerous pathways branch off here and there to different farmsteads.
Along this stretch is a waystation. Over its door is a carved marker with dual symbols of Gilead and Tarien, the patrons of travel and the meeting of wilderness-and-civilization, respectively. Not large, the waystation rests a comfortable ways from the main avenue, with a place for a firepit out front.
Towards the south, the sky and landscape darkens. The Felwood lies there, and an occasional screech from inhuman lungs may be heard.
Towards the east, the shining City of Alexandria. -=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-

Some time has passed. The Dryad's cure for the 'Bloody Finger's' disease has proved effective, even when performed by a high level druid. The one's that weren't personally cured still had to visit her to get the lingering effects removed, but that was easily accomplished as they were in much better shape to travel. Their strange souvenirs of the experience, one or more wooden appendages that function like living flesh, are disconcerting at first, and then forgotten.
They've been moved to tents in the North Field, to give more distance from people who still suffer from the other ones. They're under observation but with the treatment and the careful cleaning, that disease seems eliminated.
The other patients, overall have been improving.

There is one big group left, from the Seige of Stone Talon, and a small Blar group which seems mostly to sleep, and a small Bludgun group that has something that seems to be magic resistant Bubonic plague.

With the peacekeeping duties abated, Seldan lends himself where needed, and is open for any of the groups to request his assistance. He proves a competent and knowledgeable, if quiet, healer, preferring to let others do the talking. He's far better at listening, should the patients choose to talk.
Thurid, who had beeen laser focused on the bloody fingers after taking it upon herself to treat those partients to begin with- and leverage her strong arms as well as her healing touch to help keep them from running to the hills, has finally moved on. Her efforts have gone towards the disease which seems most familiar to her- the plague. Magically resistant or not, the symptoms are familiar to any cleric who travels often enough. With modern alchemy, it's not quite the doom on a community it once was, but out in the remote villages, it can be. And this one, resistant to magic, seems to be intent on being a problem.
So she goes from tent to tent, hands almost raw from her constant scrubbing between patients, to tend to them as best as she can with mundane means. Draining burst pustules and bandaging them with poultices meant to kill the disease, making sure they remain hydrated and fed.
Overall, the other patients are improving at different rates. The ones from the Seige of Stone Talon remain easily frightened, but some have come out of their delirium and might be conversational.
The small Blar group remains mostly unconscious, no one has died but they haven't gotten much better. Mikilos' suggested treatment, Arsenic, hasn't been fully tested though he has set out several doses he suggests someone try. Their disease seems particularly resilient, and high powered spells like 'Remove Disease' function a little bit, but rarely to a full cure without repeated applications.
For the last group, the Bludguni with the Black plague-like symptoms, it is being a problem. Modern alchemy is having to carry the curing, as the magic is not up to the task.
The volunteers from the Temples are also getting worn out. Their efforts in this time period have been mediocre, saved only by their skills. Worse, the general labourers have started slacking with the cleanliness needs, and are at risk of spreading things. Fortunately, very few work with multiple groups at a time.
Morgan comes around to the healers droping off bandages clean water and other medical things that is needed. Wraped around her face is a scarf "why is this area targets for plagues of all sort." She is now mentaly thinking of a tower in a area only magic can get to.
After having sequestered herself away from everyday life, Sasha was very surprised that someone had found her....let alone arrived to ask something of her. DEspite her surprise, Sasha was asked this.....during her evening prayers. Recognizing it as a sign, Sasha changes into her clerical robes, and brings a few attendants with her to the camp.
Once arrived, Sasha went to work, primarily using a mixture of known disease killing techniques developed by an alliance between the Vardaman Mortuary group, Althean Medicine, and SOME blessings.
In some cases, she actively cuts some sample to put them into glass beakers, and hands them to an attendant, to carry somewhere else.
Havi does his best to help and apply his healing hands, but alas, he's uncertain his help actually...well, helped. However, Havi does not give up. He helps however he can, whenever he can. "This is beyond my skill to treat, I'm beginning to suspect." He shakes his head.
GAME: Shalethiste rolls diplomacy: (13)+1: 14
Shalethiste is less steered toward peacekeping, as the days have been largely settled into rote. The triumph with the Bloody Fingers having come with other burdens has tempered her responses some, and her healing talents, meager as they are, have mostly been plied toward supporting the more proficient healers.
She's as often served as relief when those more inclined were begining to succumb to fatigue or frustration at the resiliance of the plagues, and her petients have continued to improve. Other times, she's tried to remind the cleaning crews that there is still plenty of rick of spreading the diseases, and it's at least as important to be exacting in their labors, as it is for the healers proper.
On hearing Havi's frustrations, the Mul gently touches his shoulder, a kind smile, which most of the populace still finds unsettling from her ilk, a little squeeze, "We'll get them through this, together, friend Havi."
Thurid's mundane healing seems to work well enough, keeping the disease at bay in some, and in others making the patients well enough to begin fighting it off. The Giantborn woman works tirelessly, encouraged by her success and inspired by the nobility and perserverence of the Dryads which helped them, she rests only as much as she must. Some of her patients begin to improve, and she organizes for those who are showing signs of recovery to be moved away from those who are still struggling, to try and prevent re-infection.
Upon spying one of the teamsters from the Order Paramount whom she'd brought along go to return to his duties after hauling a load of soiled bandages to be burned, without first washing himself, she stops him. "What on earth do you think you're doing?" she asks him, directing him back to the wash station. "Keeping clean is our best defense against becoming ill ourselves, or worse, making the suffering of the ill more severe." she reminds him, her tone becoming less harsh. "I know you are tired- we are all tired." she says to him then, "Please, make sure you're following the procedures you were briefed on- all of you." she adds, finally, before letting him go.
GAME: Thurid rolls diplomacy: (12)+2: 14
Being called out by a mul'niessa is one thing, being called out by a giant woman for the same thing, right after, cements the impression. Weary thought they are, the labourers nod, answering with quick "Yes ma'am, sorry, ma'am. We will."
They would complain about being tired, but it's clear they are receiving directions from healers even more sleep deprived.
The Silverguard has been using his Sickness Mercy to speak with some of the patients in each group. Primarily, he wants to know where they were and what they were doing in the days before they got sick. The answers are consistent, even with some of the invalids being reticent with a human. The first group, who seem to have some sort of contageous fear, were at the Seige of Stone Talon, either attacking or defending. The third group, who are drowsy and delierious and all Blarites, were transporting food to Blar. The fourth group was the one which met with the Bludguni council and went into a tomb to awaken a vampire.
Morgan takes time to with the cleaning as she is using the wonderfull spell of prestidation with the use of her gloves "No it makes the cloth cleaner but we should not rely on this with the spell." Said as she is also cleaning things that is given to them.
Sasha, through her diligent work, and not willing to focus on any specific group, manages to get three to regain conciousness and lucidity. "Separate them." She says to some of the workers before she starts on new people. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to be tired or fatigued. She seems to be more....driven at the moment. VERY driven...
The cleaning seems endless. There are a couple other people with those gloves and they are using them all the time. As well, there's a washing facility on the second floor of the Way Station. Some things are burned if they seem too contaminated, others, like wash cloths that the healers use after patient interaction, can be safely laundried. Items are on a constant circuit.
Patients who seem to recover, like the ones Sasha are tending, are moved to the North Field for observation.
The two arcanists Shalethiste requested are still wandering around camp, either examining the strangely crippled bugbear or talking theoretical cures with each other or anyone who will listen. The gnome, Borzi, seems very eager to begin the poisoning, while Janna is waiting for supervision at least. The both find the small Mul'niessa, with the gnome talking as they walk up, "Blue Fuzz, we should just call it Blue Fuzz, that's the end stage."
"Oh it's hardly descriptive enough, and the absolute last syndrome." The elderly elf replies, "Sleeping Syndrome or Daydream Delirium is far more accurate."
They both crowd Shalethiste, "So we..."
- >>>BOOM<<<
There is an interruption, a dragonspitter going off, and an irate Bludguni gobbo strutting about. "Where's that Paladin?"
Merek walks along and into the place when he notices that there's what sounds like a dragonspitter. He seems to be wearing that attire with the white-black, his scarf wrapped up with the features while he thinks, "What are you all doing?" he asks.
At the sound of the Dragonspitter going off, Sasha stops and makes her way for the sound....until she finds the goblin. "What's the meaning of this?" And she is rather ticked off.
"Forgive me." Seldan stands up from where he'd been sitting fairly quietly in the healer's tent, and strides out to meet the gobbo. "Major, a shot from a dragonspitter is not required to locate me, and may disturb or injure the patients, some of who are your people. How might I be of service?"
Thurid was just heading back towards the tents when she hears the dragonspitter- she'd heard that there was some conflict before she arrived, and the sound of the dragonspitter seems to imply that it is kicking off again. She looks towards the sound, and begins to head in that general direction to see what is going on.
Shalethiste holds up her hands in a sort of placating gesture (Them Mul'niessa are tricksy) as she assures the laborers, with Thurid's backup, "It's been hard, and you've been a great help to us all, just... remember what has to be done and why. Thank you." She smiles up then, to the Jotun, her complexion making it hard to find traces of fatigue in her face unless one is quite familiar with it, but they are there. A nod, then she turns toward the arcanists quickly availing themselves of her proximity, "Oh! Ah what seems to-!"
Blam and drat!
She whirls with a hand on her hilt at the report of the dragonspitter, seeking the.... ah, yes.
Him.
Sky Dancer light the path that leads past her hanging that goblin in a pillowcase for a thorough fustigation.
Morgan looks up from the cleaning area from the loud bang "stinking black powered weapons." she then looks back to the masive work that is piling up in front of her.
Havi turns his attention to Shalethiste, nodding to her touch as she encourages him. "Thank you, friend Shalethiste. Hope remains while our fellowship is true." So, that being said, he continues his efforts.
Even if its frustrating, though he turns his head at attention of the dragonspitter.
"Something tells me things are about to get exciting." He keeps his blade nearby. "I will remain here. I will come and support if the situation is dire."
It's a little hard to see, goblins are rather short, but a smoking gun held high does tend to draw attention. He is bobbing around like an angry beet, round in his military uniform and brown in the face. The Paadin's casual and swift approach appears to relax him. A little. He jams the dragonspitter into a holster on his belt. Merek is given a look, Seldan is his focus, Thurid is unnoticed, as are Shalethiste and the two arcanists with her.
"What am I supposed to do?" He gestures at the North field, the one with the recovered patients, as if that explains everything, "With them?"
His men were only cured through great effort on the healers' part, with active resistance. He could be a little more grateful. Havi has reconnected.
Seeing that Seldan has the situation under control, Sasha shakes her head...and goes back into the treatment tends. She doesn't believe any words need to be said to the goblin.
Thurid makes her way over and folds her arms, "The wooden limbs?" she guesses. "Better that than peg legs and hook hands." she huffs at the goblin she has immediately decided she has taken a dislike to. "Or dead." she adds, for emphasis.
There are many responses for such a demand, and Seldan blinks a few times, mentally entertaining and discarding several before settling, with a small smile, on, "An expression of gratitude is customary among Alexandrians. Some of your men yet lie abed, do they not?"
Morgan keeps to the cleaning as she can cast the spell all day.
Shalethiste's lips part for some manner of retort, likely a chiding one for the irritation tinging her expression, but as Seldan takes charge, she clams up. She turns, not trusting herself to say anything particularly constructive, especially as Thurid steps in on that score. Instead, her attention turns to the Arcanists, "how are things coming?" she wonders.
Merek seems to be thinking about what to do to assist, then he nods to people, "I am going to assist with the patients," the man then waves while he walks along and looks to a place he can assist the patients. Looks like he will be treating them when he can.
GAME: Merek rolls heal: (6)+20: 26
Merek goes off to treat more patients for now.
Havi remains with the healers even still, doing everything he can to treat the ever-worsening sickness. he is no master healer, but he has the knowledge and so he's putting it to good use.
Or so he hopes.
Sasha puts some of the extra hands to work around her. Such as draining pustules, places herbs on diseased skin, etc etc.
"Well, uh yeah, of course I'm grateful." Major Kreemo says, as if it was such an obvious thing that it need not be said. Or gratitude so foreign it never occurred to him. He holds out clenched hands, grasping upwards like claws. "Except the cure is weird! They got wooden hands and feets. That's not what they're expecting back in Bludgun."
He stretches up, standing on tip-toes to hiss words at Seldan. "They'll torture 'em, as suspected spies! Worse they're making friendly with the Blarny, talking about sexy trees and wood. That'll get 'em suspected as dissenters. Some's know it too, so they're talking about defecting to Alexandria. Asking Asylum. If there's a political officer among them, they're done for when they get back." Perhaps the goblin has real concern.
"I hear any word of that, I'm supposed to report them, or I'm on the block too. Co-conspirator." Perhaps it's only self-preservation. Kreemo looks at Thurid, "They was expecting them back dead, or dismembered, or... perfect. I don't know. Not this. I don't know what to do."
Then back at Seldan, "How does bein' abed help? I should tell them thanks for recovering?"
Janna and Borzi are understandably distracted and watching the goblin. Janna looks down on Shalethiste, Borzi looks up. "There's nothing magical we can find about that mutation." Janna nods, "It would be worthwhile to talk to the other one, if he can be woken up. I think the Silvergaurd can do that, when he's free."
GAME: Sasha rolls knowledge/nature: (18)+3: 21 GAME: Morgan rolls Knowledge/Local+7: (19)+17+7: 43 GAME: Morgan rolls Knowledge/nobility+7: (3)+14+7: 24
"What are you even fighting over?" Thurid interjects then, apparently not all that diplomatic, not sensitive to the political intrigues of war. Or even particulaarly up to date on current events. "So what if they're getting along? We needed them to get along to have any chance of curing them." she says then, hefty arms folded across her chest. "I wouldn't blame them for defecting." she adds.
Bludgun is a mostly evil place, with all the evils. They have laws about loyalty and reporting on one's neighbours, all in line with being a proper military hob-gob. Quality of Life really depends on the General or Noble you're under, how strong or weakly they enforce the rules, and how strongly they can protect their subordinates. Mercy is a laughable concept.
Shalethiste's head cocks slightly as she listens to Kreemo's plight, a certain thoughtfulness blooming across her features for a moment before she tears her direction toward the Arcanists as they speak in turns to her.
She considers their quandrary, weighing the matter with a slow nod before she looks between them and reaches a hand to the shoulder of each, "I see... that is puzzling, but thank you, so very much for all the work you've both put in thus far." She twists slightly to regard the senior Silver Guard and, "I'll see to it." then back to them proper, "Have you any theories thus far?"
Morgan pointy ears perks up and walks over to the talking ones "Bludgun is a special place of potical nightmares of finger pointing and backstabing." she then stops talking as she is in deep though and then adds "Them jumping ship can cause a strain with Bludgum and Alexandria."
The Eluna inquisitor did ask the Silverguards to look about about war crimes evidence.
Sasha smiles as she does notice the herbs starting to work. She sighs a bit, as she turns her attention to other patients. You paged Seldan with 'his instructions were mostly, see if you can find any, and also an observatoin that the Bludguni showed up unexpectedly, without warning. Almost a reaction to Blar sending the airship'
Merek begins treating the patients, while he nods a bit, "I think you will all be alright, we need to make sure you all take care of yourselves while you're recovering," he notes, while he takes a moment to check.
GAME: Havi rolls Heal: (7)+3: 10
"How many do you think wish to defect?" Seldan frowns at something, but remains quietly focused. "Were you on orders to come to Alexandria?"
"I'm not fighting, I'm asking him for help." Kreemo answers Thurid, waving his dragonspitter in Seldan's direction. Empty, presumably, it was the one he just fired. Unless it reloads when holstered. The goblin blinks, "Oh, you mean the war! Room. Blar has always been part of Bludgun, it's allowed some independence, now it's getting less."
A complete lie, but also the official party line position of the Council. It was a part of Bludgun and will be a part of Bludgun again, the current situation is temporary.
"Yeh, yeh, what she said! The big Fairy is right." Kreemo points at Morgan.
"Yes. Ordered to collected the diseased, worst of the worst, get them to Alexandria. See if you have cures, get them healed." Kreemo looks around, eyes widening. "Fast as I could."
Meanwhile, the two arcanists answer Shalethiste in the moments between this conversation, on a completely different topic.
"It could be natural." Borzi says.
"Rare genetic mutation." Janna nods. "They're from two different armies, the odds are astounding really."
"I've calculated them." Borzi holds out a slide-rule that's absolutely incomprehensible, and shows it to Shalethiste, "Look."
Shalethiste is still getting details from the other conversation, but she's trying to focus on one thing at a time. The Mul'niessa nods and brings a knuckle up to her lips for a moment on words of things being 'natural'.
"I've never heard of such a thing, but..." still trying to focus on one thing at a time...
For all the good that does her, as Borzi's presentation nearly makes her eyes cross and her jaw muscles take five.
"Those... are clearly ahhhh... long odds..."
Morgan says as she is listing to the gobo "You know asking for help might be a good step, while some might be wondering if you are testing our capablitys in healing the sick. But thankfully I am not the one that leads a city state."
Thurid frowns a bit at the rather lackluster description for the reasoning of the war, "Well... suppose that's up to you." she adds then, finally, on the topic of what they're fighting for. "But in this camp, the war's on hold. Made that clear. As for the wooden limbs, it's not that different from artifice or what not, is it?" she wonders. "I've seen all sorts of weird and wonderful prosthetics." she says dismissively.
"Precisely! If you assume the same tribe the odds drop to this, but factoring in the standard distribution of Bugbear settlements, they turn into this." Borzi demonstrates, the first 'this' makes the slide rule smaller, the second 'this' flips a part of it over and it's somehow capable of extending three times its length. It is, very gnomish.
Kreemo stares at Morgan. "Well of course it's a test. They know how to chop off limbs and stick on pegs in Bludgun. I was told specifically, 'No amputations'. Don't let any of them, you guys, do that." He looks at Thurid next, "Yuh, a bunch of brand new goblin or gnome tech from Alexandria, the boys would be ok with that. 'Cept I was told you're supposed to find something else. And you did." He nods definitively, as if that answers everything.
Merek would nod a bit to the patients, while he then will walk to the next area, "Alright, looks like we need to manage that." The man draws those gloves of his, adjusting them while he takes a moment to check in on the party, "You all alright?" he asks.
<OOC> Cryosanthia says, "Sense Motive. Hunch is DC20." GAME: Merek rolls sense motive: (13)+4: 17 GAME: Morgan rolls sense motive: (12)+2: 14 GAME: Thurid rolls sense motive: (8)+7: 15
Major Kreemo seems oblivious to the greater picture, and concerned. If his statement is correct, the sick weren't sent as a way to get tech from Alexandria. It does seem more likely this is a 'humanitarian aid request' disguising a test of capabilities. Bludgun wants to know if Alexandria can cure this, but perhaps isn't interested in the cure itself. They knew amputation was a potential procedure for the 'Bloody Fingers' disease, but didn't share that info. Kreemo was told to resist that option.
Sasha is a very driven cleric. Anyone that looks sick, she tries to cure with traditional, non-blessing methods, before actually using a blessing from Althea. What results is that very few patients get blessings, and then, only the really sick ones. Any conversations are ordered out of the tent while she works......if there are any near her.
Conversations aren't near Sasha. Each tent has a small stove which provides a bit of audio ambience in the form of a crackling fire. It's the only thing that makes the insides pleasant, as otherwise it's a hospital environment with an Invalid. The herbs, help, the blessing also do, every little bit adds up.
Morgan hmmms to her self "Well some of this sounds fishy but we have people that need help, and I will do what I can but I am not a healer." she takes a moment and then adds "and a bad alchmist.... hell why am I here."
"Yes, we're... fine. Thank you." Janna glances aside, answering Merek.
Shalethiste blinks slowly, as she feels her eartips tingling, though it could be some kind of heuristic trauma from the transforming matrices of math put forth for her eyes to translate for her brain. A swallow and she looks almost helplessly to the other elf at hand, "What-?" slightly off key at first. A swallow, ahem, "-do you think? Another fungal infection?" she finishes, voice better in tone for the recovery. Clearly some lingering miasma from the formula, possibly Kulthian long mathematics, is putting her head slightly to spin and she needs to reorient with something more within her experience for respite.
GAME: Sasha rolls knowledge/nature: (7)+3: 10 GAME: Sasha rolls profession/Herbalist: (16)+6: 22
No particular insights for really useful or applicable herbs, but some in the current supply could be employed in a better way. This will help overall.
Thurid offers a mighty shrug, "Honestly, I don't care why you came here. There are sick people, I'm a healer. Your war is none of my business. Doesn't seem a noble one, so I can't say I approve, but there are sick people needed healing, so we did what needed to be done to heal them. That's all there is to it." she says then, arms still folded. "If you're not happy with the results, or the brass isn't happy, Alexandria will be happy to take them in. It wouldn't be the first time." she adds then. "Or they could stop looking a gift horse in the mouth."
Sasha passes by a table with some herbs and....she stops. She looks to her attendants. "Take these....and crush them into a powder. Once that's done, bring it to me and we'll use it on the next ones." She says as she drains another pustule...
"Well I don't care if they got strange stick fingers. It's when they get back they're treated as traitors for healing up wrong, and all get tortured and killed for helping the enemy, and me too for... not reading minds from a thousand miles away and doing what they want. All your healing gets undone." Kreemo says, staring up at Thurid. Way up. Way, way up. He's wishing he had a thunderbelcher for making his point. At this range, he might miss. He frowns. He stares at the ground.
"Some of them got families back." The goblin scuffs at the snow, "will get hurt if they're deserting. Better if they died."
He's quiet for a moment longer, "So it's settled then, you're handling it, and I'll tell them no more talk of deserting, and you'll come up with a plan."
Janna shakes her head at Shalethiste, "No, I believe the Daydream Delirium is caused by a parasite."
"It's Blue Fuzz." Borzi interjects.
Morgan was about to say something but then stops her self to ask "Do we know much about the sickness and its history?"
Thurid scowls at that, on the topic of the families getting hurt for the actions of the soldiers. She sets her jaw for a moment, but then visibly works on relaxing muscles that had begun to bunch up, "That's no way to run a nation." she says then. "They're prosthetics, the result of druidic magic." she says simply and with confidence. It's not a lie. And even if it's not the whole truth, it's a white lie. "Simple as that."
GAME: Morgan rolls Knowledge/History: (15)+20+7: 42 GAME: Morgan rolls Knowledge/nature+7: (1)+14+7: 22 (EPIC FAIL)
There is a parasitic disease that causes people to sleep, that is treated with Arsenic, and the symptoms match. The regular lay healers and acolytes haven't been willing to use the poison without supervision. So, the 'cure' hasn't been tested, they've been given system boosters, etc, instead, and that is somewhat helping. It's called 'Sleeping Sickness', and is caused by tiny parasites spread by insects.
GAME: Seldan rolls knowledge/arcana: (11)+17: 28
For the cured 'Bloody Fingers' patients, there's no obvious thing to restore their limbs, like a wood version of a Stone to Flesh spell. It might be possible with a chain of spells. Or, a simpler solution could be for a gnome or goblin to put a Makers Mark on each one and pretend it's a really good prosthetic.
Morgan hmms as she looks in the air "Sleeping sickness." she then goes on a ten minute leatucer on it but looks around at probly anoyed looks at her. "I dont know how but it was treated with arsenic.... so either way it will solve what is wrong with the inflicted."
Seldan had been listening to all of this quietly, letting the more knowledgeable in Bludguni politics discuss the matter and taking the opportunity to learn. When he does return to his work, he continues with those afflicted by sleeping sickness, without using arsenic or anything other than an herbal tonic meant to stimulate the mind.
Shalethiste frowns a bit, "I don't like that this Blue Delirium has bested so many odds, though I imagine it is a blessing that it seems limited thus far to the two Bugbears." There's a slow shake of her head, "Perhaps it best if you take the oppurtunity to eat and freshen up, and I will see if Sir Seldan can come rouse our patient. Is there anything else you need? I will try to arrange it for when we're ready for it."
Sasha refuses to focus her talents on just one group, but all. Such is the way Altheans are, healing for all....even enemies. As long as they do not violate Althean hospitality, Sasha will assist.
It takes a bit for her assistants to come back with the powder, and she begins to administer the poders to open pustule wounds, some of which, she cuts open and applies the powder to the wound, then puts a bandage over it. "Should draw out the rest of the pus into the cloth...." She says softly to the patient, if they aren't raving.
Thurid sighs a bit, unhappy with the discussion with the goblin, but with nothing further to argue, she eventually disengages from the discussion to return to her duties- going back to the disease she knows how to treat, and where she feels she can do the most good, those suffering from the resistant strain of bubonic plague. While it might resist magic, it is responding well to more mundane methods of healing, and so that is where she will redouble her efforts.
Merek will nod along to people, then he walks about to find patients to assist while he takes the time to relax, "Alright, it looks like we can treat people," he notes.

"We're good," Janna says, gesturing down the way at the empty spot where the Mage's Magical Mansion is, "Mikilos has been very generous in accomodations and there's a lab in there we can work on."
She pats Shalethiste on the shoulder, "You should sleep dear, you're getting a little confused. The two Bugbears have a strange warping in common, but two entirely different diseases, once specific to Blar, the other to Bludgun."
"It's a lot to keep track of." Borzi agrees, "Very esoteric." There's the gnomish condescension.
Sasha's patients for the most part are asleep. Only the ones with the black plague in the last group are awake, and they aren't very combative. The powder helps, when the patients don't pick at their nodules. Some are easier to convince than others.
Thurid's attention with them also helps.
Major Kreemo seems satisfied that he's made his point. He was loud, people listened, things that sounded like solutions were said. He gave a directive and everyone appeared to follow it and wander off. In his mind, a success! Only one shot required. He feels good. "So yeah. Good talk." He heads back to his camp.
