Dastardly Dealings
Ah, peace and quiet. Just the sort of thing Jibbom is best at shattering. "Book Noser!" The words are heard before Jibbom is seen dashing out towards the bench, flailing his arms. "Steel Von Ironblood, Bane of the Night, has need of your services and knowledge!"
Mikilos quirks a brow, looking up, and sets his book to the side, free hand resting in light restraint of a grizzled old tomcat by his hip. Regular cats may hunt commoners, but experienced toms favored a greater challenge; young adventurers, for example. "I shall assist as I can. Now, what is the trouble?"
Jibbom hops onto the nearest bench. "Several matters!" He responds, vaguely. "But first and foremost, it has come to my attention that you recently had conflict with a demonic creature of some sort. Are these tales true? As you well know, Steel Von Ironblood is a foe to all demonkind. I have slain their generals and devoured their flesh. May I be of assistance?"
Mikilos nods, and smiles, not overly concerned with demonic threat at just this moment. "Careful, don't step on any tails. Yes, such rumors are true. A demonic being tried to set fire to the City Library. Well, did, actually, but only a small part, swiftly repaired. I did little enough, a SunBlade was on hand who dispatched of the creature. It's quite gone now, but I thank you for the offer."
Jibbom strokes his chin. Either through well-disguised care or simple dumb luck, he avoids stepping on any cats. "I see... is it your opinion, then, that this was a rogue agent? No sign of this menace being the harbinger of a larger demonic force?"
Mikilos shakes his head. "I believe was an issolated occurance, though likely actions were approved by it's superiors. The exact motovations are unknown. Might have been a protest that only one God of Magic is represented, in which case other attacks might come. Or it may have been a simple PrimeWalker annoyed at an overdue fine." He twitches oddly for a moment, somewhere between a grin and a grimace; then a kitten appears on his shoulder, having climed it's way up his back, likely with a little too much claw.
Jibbom continues to contemplate this for a moment. "Indeed... perhaps it is time that Steel Von Ironblood, Bane of the Night, pays a visit to his local library." He shakes off the more serious look, grinning. "No matter. I have other business to discuss with you, esteemed Book Noser! I have heard it said you are a skilled crafter of magical goods. Is this true?"
Mikilos nods, and flinches, quickly reaching up to remove the kitten from his shoulder, and -away- from his tender ear. "Weapons, armors, potions, scrolls, and various items of wonder. I also make a range of mundane items custom crafted to specifications. Are you in the market for something in particular?"
Jibbom nods his head quickly. "Indeed! I have need of two items from one of your skills. First, I require a simple cloak to improve my ability to withstand threats to my person. I have seen a number of fellow adventurers with such items, and they seem quite useful. Second..." He leans closer, voice lowered to a conspiratorial hush. "... It is well known that Steel Von Ironblood is beloved by all persons of Alexandria and beyond. And yet, I have heard tales of items which can be crafted, and worn upon the head, that can improve my charismatic qualities to beyond their already legendary heights. Can you create such a device?"
Mikilos nods, pondering a moment. "There are two types of such cloaks. One which acts as a magical armor, the other which aids one's own ability to resist threats. I am familiar with the crafting of both, as well as such a headband." He absently touches the band upon his own forehead. "Someday I intend to expand my own to include such powers."
"Steel Von Ironblood, for all his martial prowess, rarely engages his foes in hand to hand combat. Destruction from a distance is preferred. Therefore, the type which resists threats would seem more suitable to my purposes." Jibbom decides with a nod. "Very well then, it seems as if I have come to the right man for my needs. What would you charge for such items?"
Mikilos closes his eyes and ponders a few moments. "A basic form of the cloak will run roughly 600gp with material costs, lab fees, and the like. More powerful enchantments will, of course, be more expensive. The headband, 2,400gp for the basic form. Again, more powerful, and thus more expensive, forms are possible."
Jibbom considers this, once again stroking his chin in thought. "So, that would be three thousand gold pieces for both items, in basic form?" A moment is spent considering before he agrees again. "That is most agreeable! You have yourself a deal, Book Noser. How long should I expect the pieces will take to craft?"
Mikilos ponders a moment and shakes his head. "Roughly a week, assumeing I've little difficulity tracking down the proper materials. I've one of the labs already secured for a project just complete, so that shouldn't be a concern."
Jibbom nods his head, continuing to grin. "Good, good. I shall see you in a week, then. I look forward to seeing the finished products." He pauses. "Oh... that actually brings me to the last thing I wanted to discuss with you. You have a lab here, yes? I take it, then, that you are a member of the Society?"
Mikilos smails, and nods. "I will send word when they are finished. But there is the brief matter of design. How would you like the cloak to appear? Any specific color or pattern? As for the other, I am a member, but do not have a perminant lab of my own. There are several labs in the society, used by reservation. Allows me a better range of equipment than I could obtain for personal use."
"It should be heroic! Flattering! Awe-inspiring! Something to strike fear into the hearts of evil, and bring joy to those in need of defense!" Jibbom is not good when it comes to specifics. Look at his present wardrobe. "Ah, good. Well then, I have good news! I have decided that this Society is worthy of my participation. You may have the honor of formally submitting Steel Von Ironblood's name for membership."
Mikilos nods, and chuckles softly. "You'll have to submit for membership yourself in the main office, but I will be certain to inform the review board that it is -the- Bane of Night who has submitted, and not some simple imposter. I'm sure will be little more then a formality before approval." Of course, it's always little more than a formality, but no reason to mention that.
Jibbom considers this, once again stroking his chin. "That shall be acceptable. Thank you for your assistance in this matter, esteemed Book Noser." He nods his head decisively before hopping off the bench, away from the no-doubt relieved cats. "I shall do so presently! Your assistance in all of these matters is greatly appreciated. The Bane of the Night does not forget those who have done him services."
Mikilos nods, and begins to slowly extract himself from the fuzzy covering, made slightly more difficult by the feline instict that anything trying to leave is worth chaseing. "I'll begin gathering material presently, and will seek out approprate cloth when the Market opens. Is there someplace best to contact you when everything is finished?
Jibbom stares off dramatically towards the sky. "Wherever there is danger... wherever the defenseless cry out in need of a hero... wherever the people need something to believe in, a beacon of hope, truth, and freedom... that is where you will find Steel Von Ironblood, Bane of the Night." He pauses briefly. "Alternatively, I can be found at the Green Dragon Inn. Second floor, second room on the left."
Mikilos nods in understanding. "I've heard there's a lot of danger in that room. Something about a loose floorboard? Anycase, I'll be sure to keep you appraised."
"Indeed. Danger." Jibbom insists with a nod of his head. "I should see to it presently. Steel Von Ironblood, away!" And off he goes, to torment some other poor soul.
