- Summary: Slix is taking a stroll through Goblintown so she can take a break from her usual jaunts. Zofija is doing her usual busywork everywhere, this time cleaning clothes. Slix all but tackles her in greeting, and they briskly catch up. Leetle swings by, offering an airship to get some air where Slix is lacking in the wings, and the offer is considered. A promise to get some drinks later is made, and the eccentric eagle bounces.
- Goblintown, Midday
A certain egalrin woman needed a new, fresh place she hasn't sullied yet with her presence. The sun is high in the sky, lazy white clouds drifting on by, making the air charged with heat. And, of course, the scent of questionable food was only made stronger.
Said eglarin woman, with her featherless wings covered in a rainbow of ribbons to replace them, was ambling along with a hum and pep to her step. Monching on something questionable in one hand with a parasol in the other as she peruses one of the many streetside shops that litter the way.
It was a nice day out, which meant that it was a day for outdoor work for those who needed to get work done. Or simply needed to get paid for outdoor work.
Zofija was set up outside one of the many, many workshops in goblintown with a large washboard and basin set out in front of them. The Arvek-nar had put on a sleeveless shirt to work, and tied their hair back with a white patterned kerchief in order to keep the worst of the grime out of their clothes and hair as they scrubbed.
Slixvah shakes her head as she puts down a contraption, thanking the shopkeep for letting them poke about before she continues her way down the road-
She stops in her tracks. Perks up. And puts away her parasol. Hands up around her beak, and she excitedly croaks out in a jabber, "Eyyy good lookin'! What's cookin'!? How much ta clean a bird!?" <Goblin-Talk>
Someone's running towards Zofija. Slix is rapidly approaching her location, ribbons a flutter.
She's not slowing down. This is collision speed.
Zofija stops, and looks up from her work when someone calls out in her general direction. It seemed to be for her at least, but finding a certain egalrin proved she wasn't mistaken.
"Oh, you know, work. Trying to save up, as usual." The arvek-nar chuckles, standing up. "Don't normally clean people, but you're welome to join me at the baths anytime you know. Or, I guess I haven't been around much for an offer like that to mean much."
Slixvah wasn't slowing down, all the hobgoblin could do was brace for impact with her arms slightly out to catch the egalrin.
"Zofiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-!" The hobgoblin's intuition was correct. Slix all but hops up and over, featherless wings splayed out of habit as she latches onto Zofija with legs and arms and wing spars. The biggest of hugs.
Still latched on, she pulls back to pat Zofija's cheek. "Heya Muscles!" she chirps, eyes crinkled in a grin. "How you doin'? How's Screech?"
"Easy, easy, Slix." Zofi grunts, catching the egalrin and holding her up in the hug effortlessly.
"Good to see you, though." The Arvek-nar chuckles. "I'm, alright. Screech is doing okay, came down with something from a recent excursion, but they're all healed up now."
Zofija's eyes narrow. "And what about you? What happened to your wings Slix, you doing alright?"
Slixvah snorts, still latched on as she loops her arms around Zofi's neck. "Easy ain't fun tho~! Plus I ain't seen ya in a hot minute soooo...!"
Another big hug before she finally detaches with a clank from her talons on the ground. Her brows pinch. "Oh goodness, I can take a look over 'em for ya?"
She shifts a bit on her feet, ribbons fluttering in the process. "... gonna be real wit' ya, I dunno what's happenin' with 'em. They started fallin' off slowly, then a lot. Then I went to a Mill town ta save some people from undead and ended up breaking all of 'em off usin' my mojo."
Her face softens, looking off to the side. "I'm... okay."
"It has been some time, yeah." Zofi grunts, rubbing the back of her head. "Sorry about that, I've been busy, and had a lot on my mind. No good excuse though."
The arvek-nar sighs and sits back down at the wash basin. "Appreciate it Slix, but they're alright now. Already got looked at, this was a few weeks back and they're feeling fine now. But that's not the same for you is it? This was recent, and I can still see it."
"You're not okay, are you." Zofi grunts, looking to Slixvah and sighing. "Come on, I'm not to busy to not hear a friend out. What's on your mind, Slix?"
Slix nods. "Ah, gotcha, gotcha, I'm glad they doin' alright. It's alright, sugar, ya gotta do what ya gotta do."
She kneels down along with Zofi at the wash basin, her eyeing the dirty clothes and pulling out some white gloves. "Yeah, was recent..."
She quiet for a beat, pulling on the gloves. Slix snaps the wrists, and they >paff< with a little chaff of magic. One hand points at the dirty pile, and the other finger snaps twice. The filth sloughs off from the clothes.
"You right. I ain't. Friends are helpin' tho. Some folks don't seem ta understand that I cannot stay stuck 'round a place fo' a long time. I showed ya what happens at the Fern, remember?"
"Anyways, I've just been feelin' a lil lonely streak is all. Friends been helpin' with that, like I said. So I've been bouncin' round, hangin' out with people. But also tryin' ta keep enough distance so that I won't effect 'em too much. And not everyone seems ta get that through they heads."
The Arvek-nar blinks, then grunts once. "Well, thank you Slix, I'm still going to ask for payment for the work though, since I kind of need it." She states. "But now I'm not busy, so I guess we can talk more. That was the plan, right?"
"Yeah, I rememebr what happened. Things were going well for you and me, a bit too well, taking some of the profit out of the business." Zofija nods, before sweeping the the egalrin into a side hug with a sigh. "But what, I'm not your friend, Slix? Gods, you could have talked to me at any time if you're feeling lonely, I'm not so busy I can't make time for a friend. You don't need this much time away from me, do you?"
Slix chuckles quietly. "I don't know what you're talking about, you cleaned all these clothes yourself," she winks.
Aaand then she's pulled into a side hug, which she doesn't protest in the slightest. She rubs her neck. "You are, Muscles, don't eva think otherwise. Naw, not this much time apart. Just can't spend like, nights and nights and nights wit'cha. Like some others wish for."
A sigh leaves her as she rests her head on Zofi's shoulder. "Just a lil' lonely. Self-image shot a teeny tiny bit since my wings are all sorts-a screwed up at the moment. Keep gettin' kicked out of the Arcanist's Society. Lotta stuff, little control, ya dig?"
An elderly looking Gobbo slowly makes his way through Goblintown, a curious piece of... machine-like junk slung over one shoulder. This should put a crimp in his limp, but he manages to do so anyways, giving his step a bit of a meandering gait to it.
He slows as he passes the two embracing, and stops to look over his shoulder. Leetle's eyes go to Slixvah's wings, and he shakes his head.
"Ah lass, you'll be flyin' in no time."
"So then why didn't you come to talk or hang out, Slix? It's no fun drinking alone, you know." The arvek-nar chuckles, ruffling the egalrin's eadfeathers. "Seriously though. I'm not gonna sit around when my friend's feeling like crap and do nothing. Besides, you're still probably the best looking egalrin in town, and the Slix I know wouldn't forget that."
The arvek-nar looks up at the gobbo passing by, and grunts. "I don't know about that. She said they fell out doing a bunch of work or something, and as far as I know, Egalrin being able to fly is kind of a random thing."
Slixvah huffs. "I dunno, hard ta run inta ya?" she offers in faux explanation before her head's being ruffled. A chuckle leaves her, one that peters out as she smooths her crown feathers back. "... thanks, hon," she intones. "You're damn right I am."
Another voice joins, and she perks up from being reassured. A brow quirks. "... uh... I wish," she mentions to him. "Muscles here got it right. Lost 'em durin' a thing out of the city. And plus, I'm hella young for that to start happenin'," Slix elucidates, a hand reaching back to massage a wing spar.
"Tsk, they are so easily damaged, aren't they? But I'm sayin' they'll grow back quickly, you'll blink an' they'll be back again." The Gobbo grins toothily. "As fer flying, it's easily arranged, yes? If... if you actually want to, that is."
Grunting, he carefully sets the engine piece down, and stretches, straightening up.
"I've me an airship. Ye could fly right now, if you wanted. Set yer ribbons to the wind!"
"Hard to run into the Arvek-nar with the giant griffon who takes jobs all over Alexandria, right. Especially when they're at the stables every morning at the same time." Zofi grunts, pulling out of the hug and leaning back on her hands.
"Oh, like an airship? You're some sort of airship captain?" Zofi inquires. "Interesting. Could be worth trying if you wanted Slix, though, I'd give the airship a proper inspection first."
"Yeah, easy ta damage when they fallin' out all the time as of late." Slixvah raises another brow to join the first. "I... do miss flyin', but knowin' my luck, I'd end up fallin' off. I appreciate the offer tho'."
A glance to Zofija, then down to her taloned feet. "... sorry babe, been a shite friend," she apologies.
Back to the gobbo. "Does it actually, like, fly? 'cause it kinda lookin' like ya luggin' round a... somethin' important." A gesture to the artifice part.
"Yes, yes, it has all th' required components to fly. And it has, recently, flown.", the Gobbo says, gesturing with a hand.
"I am Captain Leetle, formerly out of Blud, now based here. I have me own, personal, airship, which I do small cargo runs wit'." He glances at the engine part. "Simply part of maintenance. Ye best beware those who don't do such, their ships fall outta the sky more like as not."
Leetle chuckles and glances to Slixvah, "We could sit ye down in the cabin, or bridge..."
"Nah, it's not your fault. Or at least, it's just as much mine for not going to look for you. So don't worry about it." Zofi sighs.
"Ah, just maitenance then, and not repairs. Least I hope it's not repairs, that's good." The Arvek-nar grunts. "I don't know why you think you'd fall off though, Slix."
Slixvah gives a sloppy salute. "'ello Capt'n. Hard ta bless me, tend to be messy, th' name's Slixvah Unmesi," she introduces.
A glance to Zofija. "Knowing the way things are at the moment, I can always be a bit unlucky and manage ta fall the one time I ain't got the feathers ta fly."
She shrugs. "I guess. Raincheck it then, Capt'n. Where do I find ya ship? Up at the docks?"
"Maintenance and repairs.", the Gobbo says in reply to Zofija. "This 'ere is for spare parts." He pats the top end of the part with a hand. "The ship is sound, and hovers aloft on her own power." Leetle puffs up a little, obviously a point of pride.
He snorts and chuckles at Slix's salute, and he offers a similarly messy salute in return. "I would personally watch over ye, then, to keep ye safe. No ship wants ta have sailors falling from her decks. Also, pleased t'meet ye both!"
"If it's big enough for a griffon, could always take Screech with us, but that doesn't fix the worry about potentially falling." Zofija shrugs. "Yeah, maybe a raincheck is best."
"Sorry, always concerned about gobbos going to make propositions in goblintown of all places, not always the best idea to take some of them up on them." The arvek-nar apologizes. "Pleased to meet you, names Zofija, people usually just call me Zofi, but I'm not fussed either way."
Slixvah waves a dismissive hand. "I'll just prepare mojo that makes sho' I don't fall down to tha flo'. Like I said, I'll rain check it once some personal stuff settles down. Pleased ta meet ya too, Capt'n."
The egalrin looks over to her friend she's sitting beside. "Mmm. Zofi. Drinkin' buddy. We do that, have a chat over some brewskis, ya dig?"
"O'course, o'course. Yer welcome, both of ye, at any reasonable time." The Gobbo grins toothily. "That is t'say, daylight hours."
A glance is given to both ladies, and the grin is broader. "It sounds like you two need t'talk an' I'm in the way. I'll be on my way, then."
As he grunts and struggles to carefully get the part onto a shoulder, he eyes Zofija. "The griffon could ride on top. And no offense taken, Gobbos can be... explosive. But then, all races have a certain reputation, right?"
"Oh don't worry about it, I wasn't even expecting to run into Slixvah here, you're not intruding or anything like that." Zofija grunts. "But drinks sound good, any time, Slix."
"And could be worth trying a ride on a smaller airship. I've only ever tried the bigger ones, so I guess I'm a bit curious about how it works, suppose. Appreciate the offer, probably take you up on that."
Slixvah bobs her head along. "I gotcha, I'll keep that in mind." At the mention of all kinds having their reputation, she rubs her neck. "Yeeeeah...." Egalrin don't exactly have a clean past.
She shrugs. "Ain't interruptin'. Actually..." She sneaks in one more hug for Zofija before she rises to her feet. Slix stretches, wing spars unfolding to a massive twelve foot span to loosening them up as the ribbons along them flutter from a breeze. "I'm gonna need ta get going'. Left some potions ta brew, gotta check on 'em just in case they ain't melt through the floor. It was good to see you Muscles, and nice ta meet a Capt'n."
A hand reaches down to ruffle Zofija's hair before the egalrin saunters off.
