The Eldwyn Road meanders continuously around hills, wilderness, and farmland, though it is occasionally broken by fingerlets from the great Tornmawr. At one point, the road crosses the Tornmawr itself, which takes place by use of a ferry.
Further east and past the ferry are the great Redridge Mountains. These mountains, which run mostly north and south, charge through the landscape, and even through the eastern end of the Lord's City of Alexandria.
Towards the south is the city, with its flags rising far above the walls. The fiery Rising Phoenix almost glows in the sunlight and airships may be seen both in flight and in dock, as they make use of a carefully sculpted section of the Redridge.
Towards the north, the landscape of rolling hills and farmland breaks into denser forest.

Arafel laughs softly and the digger snuffles the hand and does wag its tail a little, playful thing an well mannered for such as a animal that is rock and looks like a shark on four legs, "IT is a custom of my own kind... WE do not hide our names from anyone. Proud are we of our names and the heritage it brings with it."
Arafel has disconnected.
Athumpthumpthump.
Sandy is rolling a barrel down the street. It is quite a large barrel and the petite elf seems to be having no trouble rolling it, actually.
And a staunch ladydwarf stalks along the walk, attacking an apple with her teeth. She pauses, spying the elf, and squints. "Not every day you see a 'yari doing circus tricks," she comments. "Where're you taking that thing?"
Tinktinktinktink.
Selia is carrying a box up the road. It's not large a box, but the tiny halfer seems to be having a bit of trouble carrying it, actually.
Elycia also stops and looks at the elf rolling the barrel down the street. "I quite agree." She says softly, hearing the dwarf speak.
"Taking it back to my place," answers Sandy, dryly, "What the hell is it to you? It's full of equipment I need." She keeps rolling it along, though. Rather effortlessly, despite the fact that it look pretty heavy.
"A barrel full of equipment," Roka comments with a smirk. "Don't hear that every day either. Hey, you seem strapping. Why don't you help that halfling over there?" She points out Selia, and takes a bite of apple, grinning wickedy.
Selia pauses, setting down her box with a chiming tinkle, and peers a moment. "Likely 'cause she'd break it. Snaps metal like nuthin, hate ta think what'd do to glass."
Elycia tilts her head at Selia. "Hmmm....I'd help, but I fear I'm not very strong. And I doubt one of my spells could carry it if you can't."
So Sandy looks over at the halfling for a moment. "No," she says after a moment, "Don't think I will. She's annoying." A nod. That seems to be her answer, of course.
"Tut tut, how sour of you," Roka comments, tossing her half an apple away and approaching the halfling. "I'll take that, if you'd like, shorty."
Selia grins to Sandy, and then to Roka. "Iffen ya like. But she is right, ya know. I am."
Roka pauss and squints over at Elycia. "Here, we can share it. Might as well."
"Sour Sandiel, that's me," answers Sandy in dour tones. Or sour, as the case may be. She eyes Selia, then tells Roka, "Told you so."
Selia nods sagely. "Is why Sandy and me get along so well. So much in common."
Elycia rubs her nose a bit. "Strange. You both are a bit sour. I figured you'd enjoy being sour together."
Roka snorts and shrugs, picking up the box. It's a little hefty for her but not too bad. "Annoying, eh? Consider that noted."
Selia hovers a bit, concerned for the tinkeling glass inside the box. Not a particularly heavy or large box, but when you're a halfling, it doesn't need much to become awkward. A fact true for a dwarf as well, but somewhat less so.
Roka snickers, hefting the box around with less care than it deserves. "Seems like it's the pleasant brigade around here. You, human, what're you doing around here? New?"
Elycia says, "I....just arrived here, actually. Just a few minutes ago." She says pointing down the trail. "And my name is Elycia, thank you.""
"I prefer my sourness to be on my own," says Sandy, dryly, to Elycia. Then she eyes Roka for a moment and then adds, "Good. You should note. She's a bloody aggrivating halfling."
Selia snorts and huffs at Sandy. "Am not! I washed all dat blood off before I stepped out!" She grins, and nods to Elycia. "I's Selia. What brings ya to the city?"
Elycia says, "Looking for something, actually." She says with a small smile. However, she might look down at the halfling, but her cheery demeanor makes Elycia smile a little more."
"Yeah? Only been here a week or so myself. Big city, Alexandria. I'm Roka. Hey." The dwarf jerks her chin up in greeting. To Sandy: "Oh you're doing great on your own, Sourpatch."
Arafel has connected.
Selia nods to the pair of relitive newcommers. "I been here since the War, came over when all da fighting stopped. And Sandy's been 'round for ages." The halfer switches to a perfectly audible stage whisper. "She's -old-."
Elycia chuckles softly. "I shouldn't laugh. You're supposed to respect your elders."
Roka snorts. "Only if they earn it. Old age don't make you wise on its own."
"Who are you calling old, anyways?" says Sandy, to Elycia, having stoped for the moment to rest. Hey, rolling a barrel that's probaly heavier than you are by quiote a bit is hard work!
He had taken the Digger off into the forest to find some good rocks for the thing to munch on. Wouldn't have done any good for Arafel to take a hungry one into the city. He comes back to find there are more people that have joined Elycia near the gates. "Warm greeting to all of you." The eagle head nods to each.
Selia mmmms, nodding sagely. "Thinks counts diffrent fer elves anyway." The halfling eyes Roka a moment. Counts diffrent for dwarves as well, but best not to mention that, perhaps. She nods greetings to
Arafel, eyeing the digger warily.
Roka blinks as Arafel returns, and squints, looking him up and down with sudden suspicion. "HEY! Where'd a featherbrain like you get one of our diggers?" the cranky-looking khazadi woman asks, as she shoulders the box she's carrying.
Elycia says, "Probably because He's a druid. So he says anyways." She says softly as she starts to head into the city. "Hope to see you all soon though. I've gotta find a place to stay.""
Arafel looks to the woman that calls him a fetherbrain, the beak like a site trained on her for his eyes, "Arafel Gemlord... and you would be good to show respect. This is Lodestone not featherhead..." He runs a hand down over the back of the Digger, patting its head and drawing it up against his hip affectionately like one might with a hunting dog. "It is a kindred soul to Dana and has saved my life many times as well... Were you find him you find me."
Selia makes a quiet noise as the box of breakables his handeled, but figures making a fuss unlikely to help. Eyeing the airhead and the dirtbrain a moment, the halfer shrugs. "Seen more unlikely pairings. Cinnimon and Primrose, for instance."
Roka snorts a laugh. "You get respect when you earn it, beaky," she says to Arafel, clapping a hand on her hip. "Diggers are khazadi critters. We don't give 'em to just anyone. So I see a feathery git like you, and I either think you're something real special, or you stole it. Ain't had a reason to think you're special yet, so process of elimination, there." She scowls at him, and then hands the box (rather undelicately) back to Selia, without warning.
Sandy stares for a moment. She looks at Arafel, the eagle, and then at Roka. A back and forth look again. Then a hand goes over her mouth. She's starting to laugh. apparently, she finds this quite humorous!
Selia yelps as she catches the box, wobbeling a few moments in effort not to drop it or fall over. Easier said then done, but acomplished regardless.
Apparently, not EVERYHING makes Sandy more sour. Instead, she clears her throat and leans on the barrel. Just leans on it. And goes back to watching. Because this is actually entertainment!
Arafel nods a little an the screeching laughter erupts form its beak, "This critter as you call it is no ones... it has devoted the rest of its life to preserving life... as much as I have as well. I find it fits... balance in all things. and the dozen or so dead of your kind, slaughtered by a kobold war band might not be able to say much. Then the kobolds won't be able to speak of the fact either." IT was clear how things had ended after he found the Digger being harassed.
Elycia has disconnected.
"Oh, yeah, quite noble," Roka replies, rolling her eyes. And she turns on Sandy, snorting, "Glad to see you have /some/ sense of humor, squinty." And with that, the khazad woman takes her grumpy, cranky leave. What a ... nice ... person? Ish? Not really.
Roka has disconnected.
Selia mutters quietly to herself as the others depart, carefully setting down her box and checking the contents, eyeing those who remain.
No one has ever really said that a Egalrin hasn't been noble, they pretty much are that in spades, but the sarcasm doesn't pass by Arafel as well. The feathered head shakes and he has dealt with goblanoids before about the Digger. That hand nice more runs down over the Diggers back and he pulls out a small emerald and tosses it into the air. Lodestone lifts its head and down its mouth the thing disappears. The Digger seems quite happy with its treat and the pet it gets once more, "They never understand... they walk in the earth and yet blind to themselves are they." Arafel turns to the other, "So this is Alexandrian, the great city?"
"Interesting choice of words," says Sandy to Arafel, hand still on the barrel. "Yes. This it, in all its dirty, grimy, earthen glory. It's a big city. A glorious, mad place, at times, but it's still just a city of men with everything that implies"
Selia nods, and shrugs. "Proper city ain't until ya get past the walls, though. Just sorta the outskirts, here." The halfing frowns a moment, looking to Sandy. "Why they call it that, anyway? 'City of men'. Lotta women in there too."
Arafel laughs softly and nods, "I see... not much of anything I would want to do with normally, but there is a great unbalance... So desperate things must be done. Sacrifices made... The city is that of man, because humans are very egocentric... Or can be in general. Then all races could be said to share that flaw."
"You can say that agian. This city is always in trouble," says Sandy, nodding. "Nice to see another one of the eagles down ffrom their bloody mountains," she says with a snort, giving him a once over. Then she shrugs, casts an evil eye at Selia. Just because she's still hanging about.
Selia mehs. "Not always. Sometimes is a bit o' peace and quiet." The halfling pauses, giving Sandy a long look. "Just about the times you go somewhere else, come to think of it..."
Arafel looks between the women only, "IT is time more of traveled to the lands of men... though I have not seen the Sky Mountains and my one kind in some time also. I felt drawn to this city and why I'm here now... " All the while the Egalrin i stroking the head and crest of the land shark that is his animal companion. "More so I wish to seek out more druids as well... Things are not sitting well int the wilds." he eyes the city warily, on edge perhaps even being this close, not to mention when he must enter the gates and immerse himself in it.
"Not hard to find," answers Sandy to Arafel, "The grove isn't *that* concealed. The druids have made their presences known from time to time. Just look for Leisel. Eventually, she'll turn up." She rolls her shoulders, eyes Selia again.
Selia nods in agreement. "Easy 'nuff to find. Not always so friendly, but reckon you won't have much trouble with them." She ponders a moment, and looks to Sandy. "That giant bloke still around? They one who's an actual giant?"
Arafel nods to them both, "Thank you for the name... I will ask around for Leisel then and why would I have trouble with them?"
"Do that," agrees Sandy, tapping her chin. "I'm sure you'll find others. Could go to the TEmple of Gilead in the city center, too," she offers. Elves always know about the green spaces. Right? Right?
That green space growning on the restroom floor isn't supposed to be there.
Carefully closeing her box of glass pieces again, Selia shrugs, and hefts the package up again. "Reckon you won't have any problems. Likely already know which flowers they get touchy iffen ya try to pick."
Arafel laughs that eagleish way, head rising a little as the beak opens and closes, "Don't pick any, best advice I can give."
"Wise," agrees Sandy with Arafel. THen she turns and begins to roll that barrel back down the street again. Seems she's on her way, now.
Selia shrugs, and continues up the street, box chiming quietly. "Can't make much of a bouquet that way. But maybe ya right. Anyway, reackon be seeing ya 'round."
Sandy goes OOC.
Sandy has left.
