Plague: LEGwork Notes
This is a free space for information on the plague. Any information dropped here about the plague is considered 'known in Adventurer's circles' but NOT by the general populace. If you want your information known by the general public please let the DM know. If your information has been given to you privately and it is not considered 'known in Adventurer's circles' but you wish it to be, then talk to the DM and then add it to the information listed here!
1) Alba has a live specimen to experiment on. There's still no live specimen of the plague itself (a vial from one of the black ponds). If anyone is interested in an Event to hunt one down please let me know!
2) Information has been gained about the source of the plague by someone who cast the Commune with Nature spell. This information failed to reach any sources buty possibly could be useful.
3) Research is ongoing into vampires and it's been suggested that looking more closely into the name Kol Demontry might reveal some information.
4) A semi-cure has been found to the plague! It slows down the advance of the plague enough that it's being used at the Soldier's Defense in order to halt progression in the later stages of the disease. It's largely made up of salt and various other herbs, and since its inception there have been far fewer deaths (though the priests still do not know what to do with the bodies of those whom have died - thus far they've been placing them in specially made coffins).
5) An ACTUAL cure has been found for the plague and Sith-makar have come to Alexandria to use this cure on those strong enough to survive it being used on them. It's exact nature is not known and the public at large has no idea that said cure exists.
6) Antimagic fields have been used to some effect in that they can be used to stop the progression of the plague.
7) Menel Dinmorin has been located and has offered some small insights into the nature of the plague.
8) An expedition made its way to Silvermoon which determined that the elvish city has been struck hard by the plauge and the inhabitants have been... changed. Why remains a mystery.
9) You have located a map which will take you to the White Tower ONCE. When you guys are ready to do this just let me know! (As you may wish to gather more information first).8) Several ideas have been put forth about the nature of the oozes. That they are hunter-gatherers that collect magic and life force only to return later. And that possibly you should make an effort to use some manner of bait to lure them out.
10)
- The Mistress of the Shard Tower is a FAE. Specifically, a very powerful elder fae, or true fae, or royal fae... whatever, they're POWERFUL. Iron weapons can -hurt- them, but it takes either a highly enchanted weapon (+5?) to actually kill them, or a specifically fashioned weapon called a 'True Death Weapon'. These are still being looked into.
- The vampire, Kol Demontry, gains at least some of his incredible powers directly from The Mistress. Somehow take her out, and he'll be slightly less difficult to deal with. It's also confirmed he does make his lair within the Shard Tower.
- The Mistress of the Shard Tower, and the Duke of Hell Eclavdran are NOT allies. Which isn't to suggest he's not going to be a problem.
- The Ooze Plague -IS- being used to gather energy for... something. Likely bad. And killing the Mistress will NOT stop it directly.
11) Nenarulo Calanalata was an elvish man who came to Alexandria because of rumors that had started in his homeland that he was practicing dark magics. There was no proof to these rumors but they followed him to Alexandria just the same. He was a sorcerer by trade, and made his living selling the odd spell and lived in modest quarters at the budding Arcane Society. He was particularly well known for his summoning spells... though his summoning of odd creatures to aid early adventurers was eventually his downfall when someone claimed that he was summoning demons. Without a trial he was burned at the stake for being a practitioner of the dark arts.
He was actually /not/ from the elvish lands. Though he was an elf he apparently was not born in any of the elvish homelands - though he clearly lived there for a time. Some hundred years in fact. Long enough for all but the elves to consider him a native. Before he was in the silvanari lands there is /NO/ record of him anywhere in the world.
His body was burned but the bones survived lending credence to the idea that he was consorting with demons (which are notably flame-resistant). He was buried with a: Staff, orb, and necklace. All of which are noted as being magical but were unidentified (it wasn't common practice when he died to do so).
- Seldan observation/thought: No records makes me wonder if he was also as Salina is. To do: learn more about Nenarulo's nature, a thing that might be difficult to do. It might also explain the bones surviving. Given the time-jumping, what if anything did she have to do with his death, or life?
