<OOC> Jokul says, "Arararararara" <OOC> Jokul says, "I'ma lready here!" <OOC> Yelrona says, "Note that Alik is also me, but is in the middle of a PRP right now" <OOC> Yelrona says, "I may swap, depending on timing" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh yeah. Gotcha." <OOC> Iadoth says, "What's your level, 'Rona?" <OOC> Yelrona says, "L4Rogue" <OOC> Yelrona says, "And really easily killed. :-)" <OOC> Jokul says, "This is why you let me take all the hits" <OOC> Jokul says, "<.<" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Note that this is Death-Consent." <OOC> Iadoth says, "There are pluses and minuses to that, but I want to make sure you're aware." <OOC> Yelrona hrms. Excellent point. I had forgotten. I think Rona will flee like the coward she is, then. I will bring Alik in if permitted when his current PRP ends, though. Mind if I popcorn? <OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh yeah, join channel RPThree if you want to." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Umm, I was going to jump straight into the encounter." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Just be careful. Plan your moves carefully, and avoid melee. Others, make sure you cover your allies." <OOC> Iadoth says, "That's my advice. If you just wanna duck out, that's fine." <OOC> Jokul method of covering his allies tends to be stand in front of them and piss off all the enemies enough that they won't care about the others. <.< >.> <OOC> Yelrona nods. OK. I may regret this, but staying in. <OOC> MAC-B1G validates the efficacy of unit Jokul's tactics. <OOC> Iadoth arr. <OOC> Iadoth says, "You a good sport, 'Rona." <OOC> Yelrona grins <OOC> Jokul says, "If you get killed on my watch I'll pitch in to the resurrection costs <.<" <OOC> Yelrona says, "You're a good egg, J"
You've been part of a covert ops squad, dropped into Rune behind the Dran front, and you've received word that the end-game might be in progress. No further missions, but resources are tight. So, you've got to get out by yourself.
The most sensible thing is probably to head back towards the Dran front, but here, out in the marshlands of eastern Rune, it's probably going to be tough. Fortunately, there's a route that might be reasonably sensible, but through this fetid, stinking marsh, it's probably not going to be pleasant...
<OOC> Iadoth okays. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyone?"
Yelrona has been engaged in covert surveillance in Rune itself ever since the Dranei invaded the city, so it's no surprise that she's been tapped for this mission, she supposes. Still, being a spy was supposed to _avoid_ this sort of straight military service, wasn't it? Slogging through swamps wasn't in the contract.
<OOC> Jokul says, "sec"
"Why is it that of all the things wizards do, they never turn shitty places like this into lush green fields instead," mutters Jokul idly while he stomps his way through the sludge and dirtwater of the swamp, at the very front of the small group. "Shit... I guess they need something to try to discourage people from coming around. Hopefully this discourages the Dran from trying to march through here." Beat. "Actually, it might be fun if they did anyway."
<OOC> Iadoth powers on ahead.
"You have a strange understanding of 'fun,'" Yelrona grouses. "Better they should drown in a bog."
You're on a path that 'Rona found out to have been thrown down by the Dran warriors, attempting to avoid moving through easier areas. It's been assumed that the company that beat out the track have been defeated, or have forgotten about it, but there's the chance they may have left stuff lying around.
Still, it's hard to imagine what things could have been left behind in this horrendously muddy swamp. Other than mud. Lord, is there a lot of mud. Lord, ever so much.
Yelrona reluctantly takes point, probing the muddy path for traps and other unexpected surprises as they march.
MAC-B1G is not especially proficient in clandestine operations, though goes where directed. Mission objectives are paramount. All other priorities are secondary. When it becomes apparent that they must relocate through difficult terrain, it tromps forward with heavy steps. It may sink in soft ground, but it does not rquire oxygen to function.
<OOC> Iadoth ... is pretty sure 'Rona is gonna regret that. <OOC> Yelrona nods. I expect so. But, well, it's silly to bring a trapfinder along and not use her to find traps, isn't it? <OOC> Iadoth will request a Perception check from Yelrona then.
GAME: Yelrona rolls perception: (3)+10: 13
The path ahead looks fairly clear to Yelrona; they might be in the middle of shit creek, but at least this track has given them some kind of a paddle.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I will accept Perception rolls from the others too, but at -2 circumstance penalty, because y'all are assuming 'Rona's on point." <OOC> Jokul is gonna stick reeeeeeeeeeeeeal close to Rona. For reasons.
GAME: Jokul rolls perception-2: (4)+6+-2: 8

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d3: (3): 3
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh man." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Bad luck 'Rones." <OOC> Yelrona shrugs. Took the chance when I joined the scene.
As you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you take a look at your---never mind. But it does smell here, and there's a lot of mud. Lord, is there a lot of mud. Did... did I already do that one?
As the three stranded adventurers wander through the marsh, there is a sudden /gloop/ noise, and out of a muddy puddle, a glob of mud seems to hurl itself in the direction of one of Yelrona!
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+12: (6)+12: 18

Earth, water, excrement... The large gray construct considers the terrain to be moslty irrelevant.

<OOC> Jokul says, "EW EW EW EW" <OOC> MAC-B1G scans the mud for spiders. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay. If you have decided to be adjacent to Jokul, you can make an AoO. Yelrona shakes herself like a wet dog, freeing herself of the nonconsensual facial in time to see the swamp thing golumphing off, with a big MAC in its belly, trying unsuccessfully to extract itself. The creature is moving quickly. Killing it is now a lower priority than rescuing her partner... though her options are limited. She draws her compound bow, and a spool of spidersilk from her bag, deftly twining the latter around an arrow and around the stump of a nearby tree before firing the arrow at the creature. "Try to grab hold of the rope!" she calls out.

GAME: NEW ROUND! Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Three - Init 13. It is now MuLo's turn! MAC-B1G is next!
"Oy, oy, oy!" Jokul growls from the several feet away over from where the thing pounced to the golem.
"Rona! Stay back and keep up the arrows!" He calls out over to the elf in turn, and goes sprinting across the bog with the point of his sword dragging in the water behind him to create an upward spray of water trailing behind him. It ends in a heavy stomp of one foot into the water (which incidentally causes another wide SPLOOSH of dirty bogwater), which works to drive the Aesir's heavy SWORD! up from the water and through the pile of... whatever goddamn awful swampjelly that thing is, and cut off a large chunk off of the thing.
Thankfully, this chunk was protruding AWAY from MAC, so no collateral damage for anyone involved.
The mud monster has been charged by the Aesiri swordsman, and is thoroughly hacked off about that. Thoroughly. What this means is that, instead of worrying about the rope arrow sticking out of its... its... it focuses on slamming the sellsword instead, with two big arm...things.

In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity. A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit."

See, this significantly annoys him because he can't sword the thing while it's trying to drown him in... itself? Yeah, something like that.
But, as unlogical as it might seem, the Aesir concentrates as much effort as he can from his muscles, and with a spinnig motions, somehow manages to shove the whole mass of gooey... stuff, off of him.
That is disgusting.

Jokul gasps out a breath when the bog monster lets go by virtue of-- well, life seeping out of it. But apparently Jokul decides that's not enough, either. The instant his feet hit the ground again, he brings his sword up and SMASHES it down to cleave through the now-limp thing. With it being goo as is and all the water around, it might be hard to tell if it actually gets cut in half, but somehow all the dirty water getting sent flying into every direction from the force alone might be convincing enough.
It's convincing enough for Jokul, as it turns out.
With an irritated grunt, he trns himself over towards Yelrona while he rifles through his belt pouch, steps over to her and... presses a vial against her.
"We should keep moving," he declares, and goes on to step past the Sil once she's taken the vial.
<OOC> Jokul says, "Potion of cure moderate wounds. Enjoy." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Yay." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Thanks guys." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Any more poses?" <OOC> Yelrona says, "woot!" <OOC> Yelrona says, "Nah, I'm good. Thanks for running! Thanks for me not dying!"
